Mission

Camp Sue Osborn is dedicated to providing meaningful camping, recreational and social experiences for individuals with special needs from Lake and Geauga counties in Ohio. Each year CSO offers 2 weeks of day camp, 1 week of residence camp and 4 days of alumni camp to individuals with all forms of mental and physical disabilities.

Compensation listed for board officers and trustees is not payment for their board positions but rather as compensation for positions they work at camp as program directors, counselors, instructors etc.

Camp Sue Osborn is a seasonal operation. The camping season normally takes place over a 4 week period during the month of July. Program directors are employed only during the camping season. As mentioned above, some officers and trustees are paid to work various staff positions when camp is in session. The amount of compensation they receive is determined by the same position pay scale used to compensate all other camp staff. Due to COVID restrictions all 2020 programming was provided virtually.

IRS990/Desc0Due to the COVID pandemic, Camp Sue Osborn went virtual for the summer of 2020 with 115 campers enrolled. We provided 28 days of virtual programming using a variety of internet platforms including Facebook, Youtube and Zoom. There were 6 paid directors and 31 volunteer staff. Each camper was provided access to all events, a goody bag of supplies and a Camp Sue Woo outdoor sign. There was no cost to campers. During the 5 weeks of camp there were many opportunities to interact with each other. Campers were given the opportunity to go on virtual field trips to Geauga County Parks, Patterson Fruit Farms, Schlecter Brothers Market and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Jazzercise, Willoughby Fine Arts and Zumba donated virtual sessions as well.
