The corporation is a nonprofit organization and is exempt from income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and section 23701(d) of the california revenue and taxation code. The corporation believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements. The corporation is not a private foundation. The corporation's return of organization exempt from income tax for the prior three years are subject to examination by the internal revenue service and the prior four years by the california franchise tax board.
