Each Board Member and staff has to sign annually a conflict of interest form, that includes the names of major vendors and grantees. Annual conflict of interest forms are reviewed by management for any known or likely conflicts. In the event of a known or likely conflict the person with the conflict is asked to recuse themselves from any decisions directly related to the conflict.

A salary study was conducted in 2011 by an independent non-profit consultant. Independent members of the board determined and approved compensation plan, including benefits. The President's compensation for 2014 was determined by the Board of Directors based on several sources including the MBL 2013 Oregon Nonprofit Salary Survey, the MBL 2013-2014 Wage Trends report for the Greater Portland area, the Culpepper2013/14 salary budget survey and Guidestar salary information from comparative organizations.

IRS990/Desc0In 2014, GtCNN supported programs at 43 two-year colleges in 23 states. We continued to work with many students facing enormous challenges in their lives and education. Gateway programs served more than 4,600 off-track youth during the year. The average student came in to Gateway to College with a 1.56 average high school Grade Point Average and only 49% of their credits needed to obtain a high school degree. Our number of graduates climbed to 793 during 2014, nearly double the number of graduates from only two years prior. During the year, the National Network created additional opportunities for our communities to convene to share best practices. These opportunities included our Peer Learning Conference, where 245 staff members from 36 programs met in Boston, and the Northwest Student Leadership Conference, where 60 students from programs in the Northwest met to share their challenges and triumphs as Gateway to College students.
