“The osma has a house of delegates (hod) that represents physician members. The hod elects physician officers and council members.”

“The organization reviews the gbq prepared form 990 internally before it is filed, including a review by the audit and appropriations committee. A complete copy is made available to members upon request.”

“All employees, physician officers and council members are required to sign a conflict of interest policy annually to disclose any conflicts of interest. The information is shared with our auditors who make inquiries of management and council.”

“The osma has a compensation committee that meets quarterly to review the compensation of the executive director and senior staff. The committee is composed of independent physician officers. The compensation committee can, and sometimes does, hire independent advisors to provide comparable data and assist with deliberations. Deliberations are documented in the governing body board minutes.”

“1 - to bring into one organization, the physicians of the state of ohio and through this and similar societies of other states to maintain and support the american medical association. 2 - to formulate and maintain educational programs designed to provide better service to the public in matters of personal and public health. 3 - to encourage among members of the medical profession the interchange of views on all phases of medical science, to the end that each member of the profession may be better equipped to service society and promote the health of the public. 4 - to maintain and advance the standards of medical practice in the state of ohio by requiring adherence by the members of the profession to the concepts of professional ethics. 5 - to study, formulate methods, and provide information on health care delivery systems. 6 - to represent the opinions and policy positions of the members, as approved by the house of delegates or the council, before government bodies and agencies. 7 - to carry on such functions and activities as are deemed necessary or desirable to effectuate the above purposes.”

“1 - the administration group is the executive body, which oversees the activities and programs of osma. 2 - the meeting management group oversees the scheduling and preparation of meeting space at the osma and other meeting facilities. 3 - the federation management services group acts as the liason with state medical specialty societies and provides administrative services for the state medical specialty societies that contract with the osma for assitance. 4 - the membership group is responsible for services available to members as well as marketing to potential members. The group coordinates the activities that occur between the osma and county medical societies. 5 - the communications group is responsible for producing publications to allow physicians to stay informed. 6 - the government regulations group represents osma before the ohio legislature and u.s. Congress, as well as state and federal regulatory and administrative bodies. The group advocates the medical profession's views on legislation and other public policy matters at the state and national level. 7 - legal services are available to provide general legal information for physicians, theri attorneys, county medical societies and specialty societies covering the areas of professional liability, corporations and partnerships, medical ethics, licensure, and many other topics. 8 - the eds group supports both the management and general as well as program functions of the organization. The group's role is to maintain all computer functions and administer database information regarding membership. 9 - the cme group conducts onsite review of educational facilities for the purpose of certifying their medical educaitonal programs. 10 - the educational group conducts training and information seminars for physicians and their staff. 11 - the osma advantage group establishes, administers, and promotes member benefit programs like athenaheath's billing system and the allegience group medical supply program. 12 - the resource center provides information and direction to physicians who call the osma with questions and concerns.
