IRS990ScheduleO/GeneralExplanation/Explanation021ST CENTURY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMING STARTED IN OCTOBER 2010. THIS FIVE YEAR GRANT IS TO PROVIDE AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ON THE WESTERN HILLS HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS. THE FIRST YEAR PGC RECEIVED $200,000 - $180,000 AFTER CINCINNATI PUBLIC SCHOOLS RECEIVED THEIR PORTION TO OVERSEE THE GRANT. ALSO, GREAT LAKES GRANT FUNDED A PGC STAFF MEMBER TO BE THE COLLEGE READINESS COORDINATOR AT TAFT HIGH SCHOOL.
IRS990ScheduleO/GeneralExplanation/Explanation1MOVE IT MATH (MIM) WAS A PROGRAM THAT WAS USED BY THE DESIGNATED PROJECT GRAD SCHOOLS. THE CINCINNATI PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT MADE THE DECISION THAT ALL OF THE K-8 SCHOOOLS WITHIN THE DISTRICT HAD TO ALL BE TRAINED AND USE THE SAME CURRICULUM FOR MATH. PROJECT GRAD NO LONGER SUPPORTS SCHOOLS WITH PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT USING MIM. THE MATH COACHES FROM PGC THAT SUPPORTED MIM WERE RETRAINED BY THE DISTRICT TO USE THE MATH CURRICULUM THAT IS USED DISTRICT WIDE. GRADES K-6 USE SCOTTS FORESMAN/ADDISON WESLEY AND GRADES 7-8 USE PRENTICE HALL. THE MATERIALS BOUGHT FOR EACH SCHOOL FROM THE MIM PROGRAM ARE STILL USED BY THE SCHOOLS AS SUPPLEMENTAL. THE MATH COACH STILL GOES INTO THE CLASSROOM AND SUPPORTS THE MATH TEACHERS WITH INSTRUCTION. CMCD PROGRAM IS NO LONGER USED AS THE DISCIPLINE PROGRAM WITHIN OUR PROJECT GRAD SCHOOLS. THE CINCINNATI PUBLIC SCHOOLS HAVE ALIGNED FOR ALL CPS THE CODE OF CONDUCT WITH CPS' POSITIVE SCHOOL CULTURE PLAN USED THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT FOR CONSISTENCY. TO CONTINUE TO BE ALIGNED WITH THE CHOSEN DISCIPLINE POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SUPPORT ALL OF OUR STAFF WAS RETRAINED IN THE PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION STRATEGIES USED SCHOOL WIDE SO THAT EVERY CHILD SUCCEEDS ACADEMICALLY AND BEHAVIORALLY.
IRS990ScheduleO/GeneralExplanation/Explanation2THE FINANCE COMMITTEE REVIEWS AND APPROVES THE FORM 990 AND RELATED SCHEDULES BEFORE IT IS FILED WITH THE TAXING AUTHORITIES.
IRS990ScheduleO/GeneralExplanation/Explanation3CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICIES ARE DISTRIBUTED TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MONITORED BY THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. SIGNED FORMS ARE FILED IN THE PROJECT GRAD EXECUTIVE CINCINNATI OFFICE. IF A CONFLICT OF INTEREST IS PRESENT, IT WILL BE HANDLED ON A CASE- BY-CASE BASIS.
IRS990ScheduleO/GeneralExplanation/Explanation4THE CEO'S COMPENSATION IS DETERMINED BY THE CINCINNATI PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD. HER SALARY IS BASED ON THE CONTRACTED RATE FOR PRINCIPALS IN THE CINCINNATI PUBLIC SCHOOLS. PROJECT GRAD DOES NOT HAVE ANY OTHER OFFICERS OR KEY EMPLOYEES.
IRS990ScheduleO/GeneralExplanation/Explanation5GOVERNING DOCUMENTS, THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY AND FINANCIAL STATEMENTS ARE NOT MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC.
IRS990ScheduleO/GeneralExplanation/Explanation6THE ORGANIZATION HAS A FINANCE COMMITTEE THAT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OVERSIGHT OF THE COMPILATION AND THE SELECTION OF AN INDPENDENT ACCOUNTANT. THE PROCEDURES USED BY THE COMMITTEE HAVE NOT CHANGED FROM PREVIOUS YEARS.
