IRS990/Desc021st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) After School Program - The 21st CCLC program is authorized under Title IV, Part B of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). The program provides for out of school time academic enrichment opportunities for students on Western Hills High School Campus, Robert A. Taft Information Technology High School campus and Ethel M. Taylor k-8 campus who come from economically disadvantaged families and attend low-performing schools to help them meet local and state academic standards in reading and mathematics. Programs provide youth development activities such as drug and violence prevention and intervention, art, and music activities, character education, counseling and recreation to enhance the program's academic components. Additionally, programs will focus on parent and family engagement outcomes. Title 1, Part A (Title 1) of the Elementary and Secondary Edcation Act, as amended (ESEA) provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. All six GRAD Cincinnati Schools are Title 1 eligible. Currently GRAD Cincinnati receives funding to support a reading and math specialist at Ethel M. Taylor Academy and Rees E Price Academy.School Improvement Grants (SIG), authorized under section 1003(g) of Title 1 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (Title 1 or ESEA), are grants to State educational agencies (SEAs) that SEAs use to make competitive subgrants to local educational agencies (LEAs) that demonstrate the greatest need for the funds and the strongest commitment to use the funds to provide adequate resources in order to raise substantially the achievement of students in their lowest-performing schools. Currently GRAD Cincinnati receives funding to support a reading and math specialist at Hays-Porter K-8 School.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Campus Family Support - GRAD Cincinnati has three resource coordinators (RC) one at Western Hills University, Taft Technology High School and Roll Hill. They support the Community Learning Center bringing in resources and partnerships to support students and prevent them from dropping out of school. The RC also works with parents to garner parental support for their children and the school. Two of the main responsibilities of the RC are to plan and organize the annual Walk for Success in conjunction with "Know How to Go" on Fountain Square, Where the students will sign their Scholarship Guarantees. Secondly they are responsible for organizing the SummerBridge program for rising ninth graders to orient them to high school.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0SCHOLARSHIP - In the 9th grade parents and students are made aware of the GRAD Scholarship which outlines the course, grade point average, summer institute and counseling requirements to qualify for a scholarship from GRAD. In the summer students must participate in two summer institutes on a college campus where they take courses to stimulate the college experience;they must maintain a 2.7 G.P.A.; graduate from high school within four years and accepted to an accredited college or university. The dollars for the scholarship must be raised by GRAD Cincinnati Board and be in place prior to students graduating from high school. A College Readiness Coordinator is on staff to track students and assist with all college access information. GRAD supports 1400 students with college access services. Thirty Five students were awarded scholarships during the fiscal year. The average of 64% of students who receive service from GRAD are presently enrolled in college.
