Mission

Collect, record & preserve the pedigrees and changes of ownership of Haflinger horses in North America; to maintain a Stud Book and registry; to promote and support only one United States Haflinger Registry; to stimulate and regulate any and all matters such as may pertain to the history, breeding, education, exhibition, publicity, sale or improvements of this breed.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Spring and fall auctions serve as a fund raiser for the registry, as well as providing an outlet for owners of registered haflingers to sell their stock. The purchasing and selling is open to both members and non-members. The spring auction sold 95 horses and the fall auction sold 98.
Activity 3
National Show - promotes excellence in breeding and training of our breed of horses. Also general promotion of the breed. Approximately 200 horses participate, from about 80 farms. Spectators are not charged admission, so it cannot be determined how many attend. Non-members may participate, although the horses must be registered.

There are 12 directors that each serve a 3 year term, with 4 directors elected each year. Any member who wishes to be elected to the director position must get 15 signatures from current members and turn it in with a short biography on themselves, and their knowledge of the industry. After this is done, their name will be placed on the ballot sent out to all members (except for youth). These ballots are returned and counted, and the new directors are named.
