IN PARTICULAR, NHPC SEEKS TO TAKE ON RESEARCH PROJECTS THAT IDENTIFY, DESCRIBE AND PROPOSE SOLUTIONS TO BARRIERS THAT HAVE HISTORICALLY PREVENTED WHOLE-HOUSE RETROFIT PROGRAMS FROM REACHING SCALE. SUCH RESEARCH PROJECTS HAVE INCLUDED A)AN INVESTIGATION OF HOW MULTIPLE LISTING SERVICES CAN PROMOTE ACCURATE VALUATION OF ENERGY EFFICIENCIY HOMES BY INCORPORATING SPECIFIC DATA FIELDS INTO THEIR DATABASES AND BY PROMOTING MEMBER TRAINING AND PROGRAMS WHICH IN TURN WILL ALLOW RATE PAYER FUNDS TO SUPPORT THESE PROGRAMS. NHPC IS A STAKEHOLDER ORGANIZATON, WITH REPRESENTATION FROM MAJOR STAKEHOLDERS FROM ACROSS THE INDUSTRY ON ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS. NHPC RESEARCH ACTIVITIES ARE DRIVEN BY REQUESTS AND PROPOSALS FROM STAKEHOLDERS. IN ADDITION, NHPC TAKES THE LEAD IN CONVENING STAKEHOLDERS ON ISSUES OF SIGNIFICANCE FOR THE RESIDENTIAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY INDUSTRY. NHPC STAKEHOLDER CONVENING PROJECTS HAVE INVOLVED A)CONVENING STAKEHOLDERS TO DEVELOP STANDARDS FOR DATA COLLECTION AND TRANSFER, WHICH WILL RESULT IN BETTER COMMUNICATION AND LOWER TRANSACTIONAL COSTS FOR GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, PROGRAM ADMINSTRATORS, AND PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS, B) CONVENING MEMBERS OF THE LABOR AND CONTRACTOR COMMUNITIES, TOGETHER WITH STATE OFFICIALS, TO DEVELOP STRATEGIES FOR WORKING PRODUCTIVELY TOGETHER, AND (C) CONVENING STAKEHOLDERS FROM ACROSS THE INDUSTRY TO IMPROVE THE COST-EFFECTIVENESS TESTS THAT ARE USED TO DETERMINE WHETHER SPECIFIC PROGRMS CAN RECEIVE RATEPAYER FUNDS. NHPC HAS BEEN DEVELOPING TOOLS TO EDUCATE PARTICIPANTS WITHIN THE RESIDENTIAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY INDUSTRY AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABOUT RESIDENTIAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY ISSUES. NHPC CURRENTLY PUBLISHES A QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER, SUPPORTS A WEBSITE WITH SECTIONS AND MATERIALS DESIGNED FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC, AND IS DEVELOPING SOCIAL MEDIA CAPACITY.
