Native Action Network (NAN) is a nonprofit organized to promote Native women's full representation, participation, and leadership in local, state, tribal, and national affairs.

Form 990, Part III, Line 1, Description of Organization Mission:

Our greatest inspiration comes from the founding members of the American Indian Women's Service League who recognized early on the social issues Native people would face when the federal government passed the Indian Relocation Act in the early 1950s. Thousands of Native Americans across the U.S. were relocated to major cities and Seattle became a stopping point along the way. Recognizing, appreciating, and maintaining this vital and precious history of the strength and endurance of Native women inspired us to document their contributions through the Native Women's Leadership Forum and Enduring Spirit Honoring Luncheon. Native American tradition teaches us respect through many different actions and ceremonies. Native American tradition also teaches us the value of looking beyond the past and to look at our present and to the future. Our Leadership development work incorporates these principles of Native values.

IRS990/Desc0Native Action Network continued its successful programming and services through several activities, which include: 17th Annual Native Women's Leadership Forum & Honoring Luncheon, in which over 125 Native women came together to share their knowledge, leadership, challenges, and stories of success. The workshops held in conjunction were presented by several professional Native women covering areas of interest and contemporary issues and training. 12th Annual Young Native Women's Academy, in which we host a two-day intensive training for young contemporary Native women and cover hot topics such as confidence, communications, and health. Legacy of Leadership is a 10-month leadership cohort training for Native women. It is centered around the legacy of leadership of the American Indian Women's Service League, the inspiration of Native Action Network. This comprehensive professional training includes full-day workshop training on nonprofits, communities of color, government and civic involvement, finances, and community organizing. Train the Trainer - a new series for training Native women to become certified in the nonprofit capacity building training through Washington Nonprofits. Community Involvement - Native Action Network's strong base of community building is ongoing and growing. We have collaborated with many nonprofits on issues of importance and advocacy. Groups include the Seattle Urban Native Nonprofit coalition, Communities of Concern Commission, and South King County Native Coalition. Our work on community development continues based on the community-driven vision for urban Indians. Native Action provides advocacy and shares resource information to serve our community better.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0Native Action Network (NAN) is a nonprofit organized to promote Native women's full representation, participation, and leadership in local, state, tribal, and national affairs.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1Our greatest inspiration comes from the founding members of the American Indian Women's Service League who recognized early on the social issues Native people would face when the federal government passed the Indian Relocation Act in the early 1950s. Thousands of Native Americans across the U.S. were relocated to major cities and Seattle became a stopping point along the way. Recognizing, appreciating, and maintaining this vital and precious history of the strength and endurance of Native women inspired us to document their contributions through the Native Women's Leadership Forum and Enduring Spirit Honoring Luncheon. Native American tradition teaches us respect through many different actions and ceremonies. Native American tradition also teaches us the value of looking beyond the past and to look at our present and to the future. Our Leadership development work incorporates these principles of Native values.

The remaining Board of directors or committee members shall decide if a conflict of interest exists. An interested person may make a presentation at the Board of directors or committee meeting, but after the presentation, he/she shall leave the meeting during the discussion of, and the vote on, the transaction or arrangement involving the possible conflict of interest.
