Founded in 2009, the global peace foundation (gpf) operates both domestically and internationally to advance sustainable peace, social cohesion, and compassionate development. Our core belief is that a peaceful future is attainable, and that our shared values and common aspirations as members of the human family are fundamental to realizing diversity, peace, and prosperity. Gpf's innovative work encompasses a broad spectrum of efforts, including peacebuilding, violence prevention and community safety, youth and women's leadership development, and volunteer service programming.

Form 990, Part III, Line 2

Building on the strategic shift initiated in 2023, gpf further optimized its programming in 2024 to adapt to the post-pandemic environment, prioritizing more in-person events, programs, and convenings, while also maintaining hybrid online/in-person offerings and expanding our digital library of free peacebuilding content. Our approach continued to strategically aim towards re-engaging individuals in person, providing deeper, localized impact. Key initiatives that continued to grow and new programs that expanded their reach in 2024 include: global peace leadership corps: this international, cross-cultural peacebuilding and service program was further developed in 2024 to cultivate a new generation of young leaders grounded in global citizenship and peacebuilding. It engaged over 22,000 youth in 2024, with more than 20,000 participating in person across 10+ countries, supported by over 1,800 volunteers and 150+ community partners. The program offers leadership training and credentialing in peacebuilding, leadership development, alongside career and mentorship access, and opportunities for international exchanges and service learning. African renaissance initiative (ari): this multi-sector platform focused on transforming africa's youth demographic into a dividend by cultivating ethical leadership, youth empowerment, and cross-sector partnerships rooted in african values like ubuntu. In 2024, ari highlights included over 24,000 event participants, with more than 12,000 attending in person across 5+ countries, fostering stability, leadership, and opportunity. Key annual programs include youth ethical leadership workshops, ubuntu peace & governance forums, and ubuntu clubs & community dialogues. Expansion of targeted community safety programs: gpf intensified its efforts in "building safer communities," continuing to de-escalate targeted violence and mass casualty events, and prevent conflict through dialogue, community engagement, awareness campaigns, and specialized training. This includes behavioral threat assessment and management (btam) training, upstander intervention workshops and related public messaging campaigns on community safety. By 2024, gpf had trained over 6200 individuals in upstander intervention and btam. Global women dream grant program: this initiative was designed to activate grassroots women leaders by providing microgrants and mentorship to launch or grow community-based peace initiatives. The goal is to support 30 women-led peace projects by 2026, with grants ranging from $1,000-$2,000 per recipient, actively building an international network of women peace leaders. Enhanced environmental peacebuilding initiatives: recognizing the role of environmental degradation in conflict, gpf expanded its focus on environmental stewardship as a tool for peacebuilding. This involved promoting sustainable resource management, engaging youth and local communities in conservation, and fostering collaboration through joint environmental projects. Flagship programs include the kenya tree planting campaign and the uganda environmental stewardship (waste plus). International peacebuilding grants: gpf's international grantmaking supported a variety of programming addressing the most critical issues in communities around the world. Overall, in 2024, our field network of grantees engaged over 97,149 people in total, with 63,646 in-person participants and 33,503 online participants. These efforts were supported by 2,064 volunteers, involved 562 supporting partners, and featured 424 speakers. Our programs reached 401 schools and garnered 367 media coverages of achievements.
