Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The form 990 is prepared by an independent third party accounting firm. An electronic draft copy of the 990 is then forwarded to the organization's governing body. The draft 990 is reviewed by the governing body and any significant issues or suggestions are discussed. Revisions, if applicable, are made to the draft 990. The revised 990 is signed off on by the board chair and treasurer. It is then signed by an officer who is authorized by the organizations bylaws to do so.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

An inspection is performed on an annual basis to monitor compliance with the conflict of interest policy.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15A

The board chair, in conjunction with two other independent board directors, make up a subcommittee. Members of the subcommittee serve on other boards and have general knowledge of compensation for similar for profit and not-for-profit organizations, which is taken into account to determine compensation for the executive director. A written employment contract is drafted. The employment contract and compensation amount are then approved by the independent members of the board of directors.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The organization makes its governing documents and financial statements available to the public upon request. Interested parties may request these documents from the organization at 913-307-0004.

Form 990, Part I, Line 1

The organization encourages the attraction of expertise into the midwest through the program service - implementation of an entrepreneurial program designed to provide entrepreneurs with the business acumen to effectively and successfully start or expand a high-growth entrepreneurial company in the midwest. The pipeline entrepreneurial fellowship program is emerging as a national and global leader in the field of entrepreneurial development strategies, recognized by experts around the country, and now expanding thanks to the ewing marion kauffman foundation. Form 990, Part III, Line 1

The pipeline entrepreneurial fellowship program is emerging as a national and global leader in the field of entrepreneurial development strategies, recognized by experts around the country, and now expanding thanks to the ewing marion kauffman foundation. Pipeline is poised to bring significant growth to both our entrepreneurial companies and the regions in which they live and work.

Form 990, Part III, Line 4A

This fellowship program has become the critical hub of the emerging entrepreneurial ecosystem. Pipeline supports entrepreneurs through activities in major hubs, including kansas city, omaha, st. Louis, wichita, and lincoln. Pipeline is unique in the nation, operating with a model developed over years of testing and innovation. Pipeline works one entrepreneur at a time: it works with small groups of entrepreneurs on the assumption that a few committed individuals can change the world. Starting with a small handful of firms, pipeline has now developed a sizable and successful network of growing businesses. The rapid growth of member-led firms is particularly impressive. Given their rapid growth rates, it should come as no surprise that pipeline entrepreneurs are mastering the art of raising outside capital. Fellows have succeeded in accessing outside funds from a variety of sources, including venture capitalists, angel investors, corporate investors, banks, and other sources. Pipeline fellows have also successfully tapped a wide range of federal and state financing programs. Pipeline seeks to build world-class firms and to construct a world-class entrepreneurial infrastructure in the midwest. Pipeline entrepreneurs, advisors, and investors give back by investing in new businesses and coaching other entrepreneurs so that future generations can also succeed on their entrepreneurial journeys. They themselves have become essential players in the ecosystem.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1THE PIPELINE ENTREPRENEURIAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM IS EMERGING AS A NATIONAL AND GLOBAL LEADER IN THE FIELD OF ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES, RECOGNIZED BY EXPERTS AROUND THE COUNTRY, AND NOW EXPANDING THANKS TO THE EWING MARION KAUFFMAN FOUNDATION. PIPELINE IS POISED TO BRING SIGNIFICANT GROWTH TO BOTH OUR ENTREPRENEURIAL COMPANIES AND THE REGIONS IN WHICH THEY LIVE AND WORK.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2THIS FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM HAS BECOME THE CRITICAL HUB OF THE EMERGING ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM.
