Form 990, Part XI, Line 9

As indicated in part xii, the organization's financial statements were reviewed by an independent accountant for 2020. As a result of that review, certain grant funding, fixed assets and prepaid expense accounts were adjusted from the originally reported balances on the 2019 990.

Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Page 3, Part X

The preparation of financial statements in conformity with accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america requires the organization to report information regarding its exposure to various tax positions taken by the organization. The organization has determined whether any tax positions have met the recognition threshold and has measured the organization's exposure to those tax positions. Management believes that the organization has adequately addressed all relevant tax positions and that there are no unrecorded tax liabilities. Federal and state tax authorities generally have the right to examine and audit the previous three years of tax returns filed. Any interest or penalties assessed to the organization, of which there were none in 2020, are recorded in operating expenses.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0MEDWORKS NAVIGATION TEAM PROVIDES HEALTH INSURANCE EDUCATION, INSURANCE ENROLLMENT, ASSISTANCE WITH HELPING PATIENTS FIND AFFORDABLE MEDICAL HOMES, AND CONNECTING PATIENTS TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES, SUCH AS FOOD, RENT ASSISTANCE, AND MORE. TRADITIONALLY, MEDWORKS PROVIDES THESE SERVICES DAILY AT THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY JUSTICE CENTER, WEEKLY AT LORAIN FAMILY PLANNING SERVICES, AND MONTHLY AT PLACES LIKE TOWARDS EMPLOYMENT, EDWINS, SALVATION ARMY, AND MORE. IN 2020, DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, MEDWORKS WAS UNABLE TO GO INTO THE JUSTICE CENTER AND SEVERAL OF THE OTHER LOCATIONS AS WELL. INSTEAD, MEDWORKS SET UP A NAVIGATION HELPLINE AND PROMOTED IT BROADLY VIA FLYERS IN THE GREATER CLEVELAND FOOD BANK BOXES, COMMUNITY PARTNERS, AND SOCIAL MEDIA. MEDWORKS MONTHLY CALL VOLUME NEARLY DOUBLED.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0GIVEN THAT FOOD IS ESSENTIAL TO LIFE, WITH SO MANY JOB LOSSES AND PANTRY CLOSURES DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, MEDWORKS KNEW THAT THE PEOPLE IT SERVES WOULD IMMEDIATELY NEED FOOD FOR HEALTH. MEDWORKS STARTED THE COVID- 19 RELIEF FUND, RAISING JUST OVER 100,000, GIVING 80% TO PEOPLE/FAMILIES IN NEED IN THE FORM OF GIFT CARDS FOR LOCAL RESTAURANTS AND GROCERIES, AND 20% TO HEALTH CARE WORKERS FOR THEIR SERVICE. MEDWORKS WORKED WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS, HOSPITALS, FQHCS, AND SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES TO DISTRIBUTE THE FUNDING. MEDWORKS ALSO DONATED SOME MUCH NEEDED MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO AREA HOSPITALS AND FQHCS.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0THE PREPARATION OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS IN CONFORMITY WITH ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES GENERALLY ACCEPTED IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA REQUIRES THE ORGANIZATION TO REPORT INFORMATION REGARDING ITS EXPOSURE TO VARIOUS TAX POSITIONS TAKEN BY THE ORGANIZATION.
