Mission

Medworks mission is to provide a collaborative portal for every patient who needs quality healthcare and access to permanent medical homes in northeast ohio.

Medworks provides free healthcare services to the uninsured and underinsured in northeast ohio, no questions asked, and enrollment assistance for those interested in health insurance coverage. We connect patients with partners who assist with ongoing healthcare.

In 2018, the organization integrated the chap program which provides assistance with navigating and connecting with health insurance coverage. Specifically the activities involve: project goals -remove barriers for patients to access health care -engage providers to serve uninsured populations -building healthier community transition goals and impact -corporate structure- paperwork filed with appropriate agency and/or regulatory bodies to support chap formally transitioning to medworks organization -workforce-staff is transitioned to medworks with no interruption in pay or service to community. Staff is oriented to medworks organization and culture. Maintaining staff through transition will be a measure of success. -technology-the optum facts contract and data is successfully transitioned to medworks for management. This contract is currently under discussion with optum with the possibility of support from the optum foundation. -financial-the fundraising target of 250,000 is reached by june 2018 or fall 2018 at the latest. Chap program goal and impact -service delivery-we will maintain community access to chap services throughout the transition process. The goal is to serve as many clients in 2018 as we have in 2017 plus meeting the needs of medworks. Future service goals will be determined through the long-term business plan for a sustainable economic model. -northeast ohio outreach and enrollment council - continue to serve as the convener of the assister organizations serving cuyahoga county and the broader northeast ohio region.

In 2018, medworks provided 1,738 patients with 7,706 services. At the august vision clinic, medworks served more than 200 patients with free vision exams and delivered 180 free prescription eyeglasses. At the november dental clinic, medworks provided free dental services to more than 950 patients, including screenings, cleanings, x-rays, fillings, extractions, temporary partials, and cleanings for adults, and sealants for children. In addition, medworks held clinics at the j. Glen smith health center, neighborhood family practice, stephanie tubbs jones health center, and the homeless stand down, providing general medical exams, women's health exams, mammograms, dental exams, dental extractions, podiatry, bloodwork, hiv testing, and free 30-day prescription fulfillment. In september 2018, medworks integrated chap into our services to provide assistance with health insurance coverage. From september through december 2018, chap assisted 725 people with navigation and connection services, at medworks clinics and at other locations, such as the cuyahoga county justice center and lorain county health & dentistry.

STAFF IS ORIENTED TO MEDWORKS ORGANIZATION AND CULTURE. MAINTAINING STAFF THROUGH TRANSITION WILL BE A MEASURE OF SUCCESS. -TECHNOLOGY-THE OPTUM FACTS CONTRACT AND DATA IS SUCCESSFULLY TRANSITIONED TO MEDWORKS FOR MANAGEMENT. THIS CONTRACT IS CURRENTLY UNDER DISCUSSION WITH OPTUM WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF SUPPORT FROM THE OPTUM FOUNDATION. -FINANCIAL-THE FUNDRAISING TARGET OF 250,000 IS REACHED BY JUNE 2018 OR FALL 2018 AT THE LATEST. IN ADDITION, MEDWORKS HELD CLINICS AT THE J. GLEN SMITH HEALTH CENTER, NEIGHBORHOOD FAMILY PRACTICE, STEPHANIE TUBBS JONES HEALTH CENTER, AND THE HOMELESS STAND DOWN, PROVIDING GENERAL MEDICAL EXAMS, WOMEN'S HEALTH EXAMS, MAMMOGRAMS, DENTAL EXAMS, DENTAL EXTRACTIONS, PODIATRY, BLOODWORK, HIV TESTING, AND FREE 30-DAY PRESCRIPTION FULFILLMENT. IN SEPTEMBER 2018, MEDWORKS INTEGRATED CHAP INTO OUR SERVICES TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE. FROM SEPTEMBER THROUGH DECEMBER 2018, CHAP ASSISTED 725 PEOPLE WITH NAVIGATION AND CONNECTION SERVICES, AT MEDWORKS CLINICS AND AT OTHER LOCATIONS, SUCH AS THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY JUSTICE CENTER AND LORAIN COUNTY HEALTH & DENTISTRY.
