Activity 2

Exploration exploration provides the foundation for species and habitat conservation. In order to protect the most threatened species and places on earth, we must first know what and where they are. Exploration is urgently needed for many biodiversity rich areas of the world. Expeditions wildlife explorers gwc staff and partners have wide experience planning, organizing and implementing large and small-scale biodiversity expeditions to remote, unexplored areas of the world. Gwc works with an extensive network of expert scientists who can rapidly survey and identify species and habitats of interest. Through gwcs wildlife explorers program, field scientists explore wild places, document species, and discover species new to science to promote and guide species and habitat conservation. Wildlife explorers works with a wide network of partner scientists, ngos, and academic institutions to: conduct gwc led expeditions conduct collaborative expeditions support partner expeditions search for lost or endangered species baseline biodiversity surveys gwc staff has over 14 years of experience organizing, implementing, and evaluating rapid biodiversity field surveys for conservation and development as well experience with ifc and other international standards. Gwc has an extensive network of expert scientists who can rapidly survey and identify species and habitats of interest. Gwc and partners offer services for: baseline biodiversity field surveys for esias and pre-esia stages evaluation of biodiversity data for compliance with international standards, particularly the ifcs performance standard 6 guidance on mitigation hierarchy for biodiversity values biodiversity offsets design and development biodiversity monitoring conservation planning and links to conservation ngos tools and methods for biodiversity assessment

Activity 3

Research gwc bases conservation decisions and actions on scientific inquiry. We employ an academic model for research, partnering with scientists to address important questions in conservation. This collaborative approach, a virtual conservation think tank, promotes scientific insight and breakthroughs. As an international organization, we collaborate widely with universities, conservation organizations, museums, zoos, botanical organizations, and government agencies. Our associate scientists and core staff are conducting research projects within the categories of species conservation, conservation strategies, ecology and evolutionary biology, and natural history
