Form 990 is prepared by an outside tax professional. The form is then reviewed by the organization's management and at least one member of the board of directors. This group of individuals then discusses the contents of the return with the outside tax professional. After a full review (with modifications where necessary), the final version of the tax return is provided to all members of the organization's voting body. A representative of management or the board authorizes the final form 990 which is then e- filed with the internal revenue service.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 12C

The nepal counry director and all board members are required to disclose (in writing) potential conflicts and any related party affiliations. Loans between the organization and members of management and the board are strictly prohibited. The organization seeks full transparency on all relationships. Any potential conflicts (in fact or appearance) are discussed openly and resolved inaccordance with the organization's policies and procedures.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 15A

Additional Explanations

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

Our programs support communities in the protection of red panda habitat throughout their range through awareness campaigns, community-based research, in addition to eco-tourism and sustainable business skill development.

Form 990, Page 1, Part I, Line 6

Volunteers serve on the board. They help with the annual convention, they instruct.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Red panda network started in 2006, when we realized that little was being done to protect red panda and its habitat. We began with the idea that, given the opportunity, local villagers would choose protection over exploitation of their natural resources. We tested this theory out throughour forest guardian monitoring program, training 14 local villagers to monitor their forests for red panda. Next we realized that we needed to turn red pandas into a financial resource and began training local villagers in eco-tourism and promoting trips to see red panda in the wild. By 2015, we had 47 forest guardians monitoring 10% of red panda habitat in nepal, and had the largest group (85) of tourists both national and foreign visiting the red panda trail.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4D

Our vision is to ensure the survival of wild red pandas and preserve their habitat for future generations to study, experience, and enjoy. We are committed to protecting wild red pandas and preserving their habitat through the empowerment of local communities by adaptive community-based research, education, and sustainable development.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0OUR PROGRAMS SUPPORT COMMUNITIES IN THE PROTECTION OF RED PANDA HABITAT THROUGHOUT THEIR RANGE THROUGH AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS, COMMUNITY-BASED RESEARCH, IN ADDITION TO ECO-TOURISM AND SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS SKILL DEVELOPMENT.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1VOLUNTEERS SERVE ON THE BOARD. THEY HELP WITH THE ANNUAL CONVENTION, THEY INSTRUCT.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2RED PANDA NETWORK STARTED IN 2006, WHEN WE REALIZED THAT LITTLE WAS BEING DONE TO PROTECT RED PANDA AND ITS HABITAT.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3OUR VISION IS TO ENSURE THE SURVIVAL OF WILD RED PANDAS AND PRESERVE THEIR HABITAT FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS TO STUDY, EXPERIENCE, AND ENJOY. WE ARE COMMITTED TO PROTECTING WILD RED PANDAS AND PRESERVING THEIR HABITAT THROUGH THE EMPOWERMENT OF LOCAL COMMUNITIES BY ADAPTIVE COMMUNITY-BASED RESEARCH, EDUCATION, AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.
