Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Triumph offers an alternative form of support to individuals with developmental disabilities, provided in a community based & non-restrictive manner. Triumph supports individuals to grow in independence to assume greater personal responsibility and to increase community involvement. Services are centered on three aspects of existence - living, working & playing. Triumph offers life coaching, supported employment and social activity coordination. Triumph also offers individual, couples and group therapy to address the anxiety & depression that is more prevalent in this population. Currently triumph is supporting approximately 380 individuals and of those approximately 75% have a diagnosis of either autism or asperger's syndrome.

Triumph services, inc provides community-based support to individuals with developmental disabilities who are trying to live independently.

Governance Explanations

Upon completion of the organization's form 990, the return is presented to the board at the board of directors meeting. At the meeting, the board members review the tax return and are free to ask any questions or engage in discussion regarding any topic covered on the return. Once the governing body has reviewed and approved the form 990, the return is filed with the internal revenue service.

Triumph services employees and directors review and sign a written conflict of interest policy when hired or appointed. This policy is monitored by triumph services. It is the responsibility of staff or directors to immediately notify triumph services of any potential conflict of interest.

Compensation for the executive director and key employees is determined on a yearly basis. Before compensation is set, the board of directors examines the type and amount of work performed by the executive director and key employees while taking into account the budget and the executive director's and key employees' annual performance appraisal from the preceding year. The board is knowledgeable about comparable salaries and uses this knowledge in determination of salaries.

The organization received a grant from the paycheck protection program in the amount of $157,125 to be used for payroll expenses, mortgage interest, commercial rent or utilities. Under guidance of the american institute of certified public accountants, the grant funds are to be recognized as income once all conditions of the grant are substantially met or explicitly waived. At december 31, 2020, the organization had substantially met all conditions of the grant and recorded the proceeds as grant income on the income statement.

The organization is organized as a nonprofit corporation under the alabama nonprofit corporation act. Additionally, the organization has been granted tax-exempt status by the internal revenue service for income tax purposes. The organization is subject to unrelated business income tax (ubit) only if it engages in activities subject to the ubit regulations. Tax positions are initially recognized in the financial statements when it is more likely than not the position will be sustained upon examination by the taxing authorities. The organization had no uncertain tax positions that qualify for either recognition or disclosure in the financial statements as of december 31, 2020 and 2019 based on an assessment of many factors, including experience and interpretations of tax laws applied to the facts of each matter for all open tax years.

TRIUMPH ALSO OFFERS INDIVIDUAL, COUPLES AND GROUP THERAPY TO ADDRESS THE ANXIETY & DEPRESSION THAT IS MORE PREVALENT IN THIS POPULATION. CURRENTLY TRIUMPH IS SUPPORTING APPROXIMATELY 380 INDIVIDUALS AND OF THOSE APPROXIMATELY 75% HAVE A DIAGNOSIS OF EITHER AUTISM OR ASPERGER'S SYNDROME.
