Activity 2

Mentoring and Junior One Hundred In 2011 OHBMs Mentoring program reached over 750 participants at three Eagle Academy Campuses located in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. OHBM recruited, trained and provided background checks for 140 Mentors. The Mentoring program provided comprehensive services for the youth which included trips, health and wellness workshops, and nutritional meals. Both the mentees and volunteers received uniformed tee shirts for their participation in the program. Fifty senior level students were prepared for the journey into manhood by their mentors in a 7 month program which included learning social graces, entrepreneurial training, understanding personal finances and other life skills. As part of a business plan writing competition, 5 students received commitments for 20,000 in scholarships over the next 4 years.

Activity 3

Scholarships For over 20 years OHBM has provided scholarships to high school seniors who have been accepted into accredited colleges or universities, based on academic performance, SAT scores and community services. This year OHBM committed to giving 20 young men, 221,000 in scholarships over the next 4 years. In 2011, OHBM provided 87,518 in scholarships to 49 students. The organization also provided airfare for students to travel to college and back home.
