Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The offshore marine service association is the leading association of and spokesman for the offshore marine transportation service industry. The mission is to vigorously defend the cabotage laws of the united states, to proactively foster, develop, and promote positions which are favorable to the common good of its members with governmental and regulatory bodies, worldwide. We encourage and promote the highest standards of safety training and environmental protection of its member companies.

Major Activities

Activity 2
The security program helps member companies establish and update their written security program documentation required by the u.s. Coast guard to be on board each vessel at all times. In 2011, omsa's security program impacted approximately 345 vessels owned by our member companies.
Activity 3
The quarterly business meeting program focuses on current issues affecting the offshore marine transportation industry. Four meetings per year are held that bring member companies' staffs together to focus on current industry events. Speakers address the group, and sub groups have concurrent meetings during the meeting focusing on specific issues such as marine towing, human resources, etc. Approximately 1,780 individuals attended the four quarterly meetings in 2011.
