Activity 2

Christian community action's (cca) adult health center provides comprehensive, low cost medical care to the working poor living across denton county, as well as cca's entire service area. The center was established in september 1999 due to a glaring need for affordable health care for the uninsured and underinsured. According to the u.s. Census bureau, texas has the highest percentage of uninsured residents in the nation. Cca's adult health center addresses the need for affordable primary and preventative health care by offering a range of services on a sliding fee scale.

Activity 3

Each week, christian community action (cca) typically provides more than 650 families with more than 40 percent of their food needs. Currently, in these economically trying times, the number of families receiving access to the food pantry is approaching 900. These low-income families are provided with vouchers for use at the pantry, which is a fully-stocked grocery store. Withcca-provided food, families are able to reserve their household income for rent, utilities, childcare and healthcare.
