Located at 22 Main Street in Cooperstown, the Cooperstown Art Association was formed in 1928 by a group of six professional artists to serve and maintain interest in the applied and fine arts and to provide the means to increase the community's awareness and participation in the arts. We wish to nurture the development of both artists and audience in all media and to educate the youth in the surrounding community. The CAA exhibits approximately 20 shows a year, featuring a cross-section of styles and abilities and bringing in a multitude of artists and patrons. We offer classes, demonstrations and lectures throughout the year along with our ongoing figure drawing class.Special events like Fine Arts on the Lawn the Pumpkin Glow and Chamber of Horrors and the Adorn-a-Door Wreath Festival have become established beloved traditions in this community and beyond. In addition the CAA also sponsors and co-sponsors special programming like artist studio tours, art film series, theatrical produc

“The Association maintains a collection of original art work that is available for display in the gallery or for loan to others who wish to display specific pieces. The artwork is by various artists using different medias. All items have been purchased by or donated to the Association. These artworks are valued at their purchase price or appraised value at date of donation. These items are not for sale and the Association does not record depreciation of assets defined as collections.”
“Permanently restricted net assets consist of two endowment funds. The Burchan endowment consists of Wilber Bank Corp and United Dominion Realty stock. The protocol for the Burchan endowment calls for one quarterly dividend from United Dominion Realty to be reinvested annually, $500 of income to be awarded as prize money and any remaining income to be split 50/50 between prizes and operations. The Wright endowment consists of an original donation of $5,000 that has been placed in a separate account. The income from that investment is board designated as available for prizes when needed.”

We wish to nurture the development of both artists and audience in all media and to educate the youth in the surrounding community. The CAA exhibits approximately 20 shows a year, featuring a cross-section of styles and abilities and bringing in a multitude of artists and patrons.
