Monmouth conservation foundation was organized in 1977 by a group of citizens for the following purposes: to acquire, hold, preserve and protect the open lands, historic areas and park and recreational areas of monmouth county, new jersey, together with any buildings located thereon; to solicit and receive, including but not limited to, gifts, bequests, legacies, conservation easements and conveyances of real and personal property in furtherance of the purposes aforesaid; to apply for, receive and administer grants from private and public sources, federal, state, and county in furtherance of the purposes aforesaid; and to exercise all the rights, powers, and duties conferred on non-profit corporations under the laws of the state of new jersey

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Live here in the future. The hard work and dedication put forth by the foundation during 2013 has ensured that freneau woods, monmouth county's newest park will be open to the public in 2014. These 200+ acres in marlboro and aberdeen townships will allow residents lush space for recreation as well as many trails for hiking. Mcf partnered with the monmouth county park system, ny/nj baykeeper, the state, and local municipalities to permanently protect this gorgeous open space. Mcf along with the monmouth county agriculture board and the state agriculture development committee have partnered to preserve one of the few remaining farms in wall township. The conover family has farmed this land for generations, and this partnership guarantees by holding an agricultural easement, that it will continue for generations to come. This beauty in the heart of wall township is truly an agricultural gem in monmouth county. Chris's landing is a unique property tucked away in middletown township. The project had long ago stalled, but during 2013, mcf led the way revisiting this project for preservation. The 15 acres parcel is of scenic and ecologic significance, and will allow for permanent public access to the navesink and swimming river waters. Springwood avenue park is a unique parcel of land tucked away in urban asbury park. The 1.3 acre pocket park will provide a necessary recreation and outdoor performance space to the underserved city. This project will support development of the remaining vacant lots within the area, and will become the first park on asbury's west side. These notable accomplishments encompassed a variety of different land preservation methods and partners. Each piece of land preserved helps protect the quality of life for present and future generations, significantly shaping the future of our beautiful county. These achievements, which would not have occurred without your support, set a challenging precedent, which we plan to surpass. Thank you for helping monmouth conservation foundation make land preservation an actuality and for enabling mcf to preserve the open space throughout monmouth county we all treasure. To learn more about mcf please contact bill kastning, executive director, [email protected], or by phone 732-671-7000, or visit our website at www.monmouthconservation.org.

Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Page 1, Part II, Line 9

Easements when purchases are reflected as "other assets" on the organization's balance sheet. Easements that are donated to the organization are reflected in the footnotes of the organization's audited financial statements, but since no value is placed on these easements, they are not reflected in the organization's balance sheet or income statement.

Schedule D, Page 3, Part X

Income taxes the organization follows the accounting guidance for uncertain tax positions, which clarifies the accounting and recognition of tax positions taken or expected to be taken on its income tax returns. The organization recognized the tax benefits from uncertain tax positions only if it is more likely thatn not that a tax position will be sustained on examination by the taxing authorities, based on the technical merits of the position. Management has determined that there are no unrecognized tax benefits that will significantly increase or decrease over the next twelve months, not has the organization incurred any interest or penalties related to income tax expense during the year ended december 31, 2013. Generally, in accordance with the statutes of limitations, the organization's forms 990, return of organization exempt from income tax, for the years ending 2010, 2011 and 2012 are open to examination by the irs.

IRS990/Desc0MONMOUTH CONSERVATION FOUNDATION (MCF) IS OUR COUNTY'S ONLY CONTINUING LAND TRUST ORGANIZATION. OVER THE LAST 37 YEARS, WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY PRESERVED APPROXIMATELY 6,500 ACRES THROUGHOUT MONMOUTH COUNTY. MCF IS STEADFASTLY DEDICATED TO ENSURING A PERMANENT LEGACY OF OPEN SPACE AND NATURAL RESOURCES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY, AND THIS YEAR WE CONTINUED THAT MISSION. MONMOUTH COUNTY'S 665 SQUARE MILES IS KNOWN FOR ITS BEAUTY AND DIVERSITY OF FLORA, FAUNA AND LAND. OUR COUNTY OFFERS A RICH BLEND OF RURAL, SUBURBAN, AND URBAN LIFESTYLES THAT MAKE IT ONE OF THE MOST DESIRABLE AREAS ON THE EAST COAST FOR PEOPLE TO LIVE AND RAISE FAMILIES. MCF'S ONGOING AND PERSISTENT EFFORTS TO PRESERVE LAND AND PROTECT ITS FRAGILE ECOSYSTEM TODAY BENEFIT BOTH THOSE CURRENTLY LIVING IN THE AREA, AS WELL AS THOSE WHO WILL LIVE HERE IN THE FUTURE.
