MEMBERSHIP SHALL BE OPEN TO AlL PERSONS SUPPORTIVE TO THE PURPOSES OF THE AGENCY. MEMBERSHIP SHALL BE ACQUIRED THROUGH APPLICATION AND UPON PAYMENT OF DUES OR ANY OTHER METHOD THAT A MAJORITY OF THE BOARD SO CHOOSES. THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP: MEMBER, SILVER MEMBER AND GOLD MEMBER.

THERE SHALL BE UP TO EIGHTEEN(18)MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS. THE TERM OF OFFICE FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS SHALL BE FOR three YEARS. THERE SHALL BE THREE(3) CLASSES WITH SIX (6) DIRECTORS IN EACH CLASS THAT ROTATE IN THREE (3)YEAR INTERVALS. It shall be the duty of the nominating commitee to name nominees for all elective officers for the bi-annual election. At a meeting held at least two(2) months prior to the bi-annual meeting, three (3) people from the board of directors will be selected by the chairman to serve on the Nominating Committee. The immediate Past Chairman of the Board of Directors shall serve as Chairman of the Committee. The report of the nominating committee shall be included with the notice of the Bi-Annual Meeting. At the bi-annual meeting: the report of the nominating committee shall be read; Additional nominations may be made from the floor by any member of the agency provided the proposed nominee has given written consent to be nominated; if there is a contest of any office, the election for that office shall be written ballot; whenever written ballots are required, the chairman shall appoint tellers to collect and count ballots.

BEHAVIORAL MANAGEMENT, FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT, TRANSPORTATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL MODIFICATIONS, WHEN APPLICABLE, ARE EXAMPLES OF SERVICES PROVIDED. ACCEPTING RESIDENTS FROM STATE DEVELOPMENTAL CENTERS AND COMMUNITY FAMILIES, THESE SERVICES PROVIDE AN ALTERNATIVE TO INSTITUTIONAL PLACEMENT AND TO LIVING AT HOME WHEN THIS IS NO LONGER POSSIBLE OR ADVISABLE.THE GROUP HOME AND SUPERVISED APARTMENT PROGRAMS OPERATED BY HUDSON MILESTONES PROVIDE A COMMUNITY INTEGRATION LIVING OPTION FOR THOSE WHO CAN NO LONGER LIVE WITH THEIR FAMILIES OR ON THEIR OWN. THE PROGRAMS AVOID PLACEMENTS IN STATE INSTITUTIONS AND ARE FUNDED BY THE STATE AT A FRACTION OF THE COST OF INSTITUTIONALIZATION.THE PROGRAMS PROVIDE AROUND THE CLOCK STAFF SUPERVISION FOR THE CLIENTS. A HOME ATMOSPHERE IS MAINTAINED, AND ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED AS NEEDED SO THAT OUR CLIENTS CAN FULFILL THEIR DAILY NEEDS AND PREFERENCES. MEDICAL CARE COORDINATION, MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL MANAGEMENT ARE ADDITIONAL SERVICES OFFERED.THESE PROGRAMS ARE GEARED TOWARDS TEACHING THE CLIENTS HOW TO BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT IN A NUMBER OF AREAS. MOST COMMON AREAS INCLUDE SOCIAL SKILLS, HOUSEHOLD SKILLS AND DAILY HYGIENE. EACH CLIENT HAS A PERSONAL "PLAN" WHICH IS TAILORED TO THEIR ABILITIES. ALONG WITH THE EDUCATIONAL ASPECT OF THE PROGRAM, COMMUNITY INTEGRATION AND RECREATION PLAY A MAJOR PART IN THE TOTAL SERVICE OF THE PROGRAM. DAY HABILITATION SERVICES THE PURPOSE OF HUDSON MILESTONES' DAY HABILITATION PROGRAMS IS TO PROVIDE INDIVIDUALS WITH INTELLECTUAL/DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES WITH MEANINGFUL AND PRODUCTIVE ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE DAY.HUDSON MILESTONES OPERATES TWO DAY HABILITATION PROGRAMS; ONE IN BAYONNE AND ONE IN JERSEY CITY. THEY PROVIDE DAY PROGRAMMING FOR OVER 110 RESIDENTS OF THE HUDSON COUNTY COMMUNITY. THESE CENTERS ARE PLACES OF INDIVIDUAL EXPRESSION, LEARNING AND CREATION. EACH PERSON CAN FIND WAYS TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH PEERS WHILE ALSO INCREASING SKILLS AND INTERESTS WHICH OUR INNOVATIVE STAFF INCORPORATE INTO THE DAILY SCHEDULE. PROGRAMMING IS DEVELOPED BASED ON EACH PERSON'S INTERESTS, GOALS AND NEEDS. OUR DAY HABILITATION CURRICULUM EMPHASIZES LEARNING SOCIAL, SAFETY AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS.WE ALSO OFFER ACTIVITIES SUCH AS LEARNING INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES, HOW TO FILL OUT JOB APPLICATIONS AND OFFER DISCUSSIONS ABOUT JOB SKILLS. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDE COLLATING, LABELING, SMALL ASSEMBLY AND SHREDDING. WE HAVE CLEANING CREWS THAT CLEAN THE CENTERS AS WELL AS PLACES IN THE COMMUNITY.AS ALWAYS, OUR FOCUS IS ON PROVIDING WHATEVER ASSISTANCE A PERSON REQUIRES FOR PARTICIPATION IN HIS/HER COMMUNITY TO THE FULLEST LEVEL OF THEIR CAPABILITIES.MUSICAL MILESTONES - IN COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL PERFORMANCE ARTISTS, OUR PROGRAM MEMBERS INCORPORATE DANCE, MOVEMENT AND SINGING INTO CREATIVE PRODUCTIONS. MORE IMPORTANTLY, THEY LEARN THAT IMAGINATION IS FUN AND THAT EACH OF US IS WORTHY OF ESTEEM, BOTH FROM SELF AND OTHERS.WEEKEND RESPITE PROGRAM - THIS PROGRAM SERVES 29 ADULT CLIENTS FOR 40 SATURDAYS A YEAR FROM 10AM to 4:00PM. THE CENTER (CDC) OPERATES FROM MONDAY-FRIDAY. FOR FFY17 136 KIDS RECEIVED OVER 52,000 HOURS OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT SERVICES.IN-HOME YOUTH RESPITE PROGRAM PROVIDED OVER 40 FAMILIES WITH OVER 7,000 HOURS OF RESPITE SERVICES. YOUTH & ADULT IN HOME RESPITE PROVIDES FAMILY CAREGIVERS WITH A SHORT PERIOD OF REST OR RELIEF BY ARRANGING ALTERNATE CAREGIVING FOR THE FAMILY MEMBER WITH A DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY. OVER FORTY FAMILIES IN HUDSON COUNTY RECEIVE IN-HOME RESPITE CARE EACH WEEK. SPECIALLY TRAINED PROVIDERS CARE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES THROUGH ACTIVITIES WHICH BEST SUIT THEIR SPECIFIC NEEDS AND PREFERENCES. RESPITE PROVIDERS GIVE SUPPORT IN THE AREAS OF SELF-HELP, PRACTICAL SKILLS AND COMMUNITY INTEGRATION. SOCIAL RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES ARE A TOP PRIORITY. ADULTS ENROLLED IN THIS PROGRAM ARE REFERRED BY THE NEW JERSEY DIVISION OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. YOUTHS (UP TO AGES 21 YEARS) ARE REFERRED BY THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN & FAMILIES' DIVISION OF CHILDREN SYSTEM OF CARE. FORTY (40) FAMILIES RECEIVED SERVICES IN the CURRENT FISCAL YEARTHE CDC PROVIDED FREE DOOR-TO-DOOR TRANSPORTATION FOR THOSE LIVING IN OUR LIMITED CATCHMENT AREA, AS WELL AS FREE MEALS AND SNACKS, AND AN EVER-CHANGING ARRAY OF DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE SENSORY AND PLAY EXPERIENCES IN A 1:4 TEACHER/CHILD RATIO WITH HIGHLY TRAINED STAFF. PARENT SUPPORT ACTIVITIES AND PARENT PARTICIPATION DAYS ARE OFFERED TO PROVIDE ADDED ENRICHMENT AND INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES. THIS PROGRAM IS FINANCED THROUGH CONTRACTS WITH THE STATE AND COUNTY GOVERNMENT FUNDING SOURCES. WE SERVED 70 FAMILIES DURING THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR.

THE PROGRAM STRIVES TO EDUCATE AND EMPOWER FAMILIES AND CAREGIVERS OF CHILDREN, WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS OR DIAGNOSED WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. STAFF PROVIDES FAMILIES WITH INFORMATION AND SUPPORT WHILE MODELING INTERVENTION STRATEGIES. SERVICES ARE PROVIDED IN THE CHILD'S NATURAL ENVIRONMENT (HOME, CHILD CARE CENTER OR OTHER) BY A TEAM OF PROFESSIONALS. OVER 69 CHILDREN AND FAMILIES RECEIVED 4,000 HOURS OF DEVELOPMENTAL EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES.CHILDREN MEETING THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH'S ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS (BIRTH -3 YEARS OLD) AND THEIR FAMILIES LIVING IN HUDSON COUNTY RECEIVE FAMILY TRAINING SERVICES. HUDSON MILESTONES' SERVICES INCLUDE DEVELOPMENTAL INTERVENTION, PHYSICAL THERAPY, SPEECH THERAPY, OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY, NURSE SUPPORT AND FAMILY SUPPORT. OUR STAFF ARE SPECIALISTS IN THIS FIELD. THERE WERE 136 FAMILIES SERVED FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR.IN THE NEW JERSEY EARLY INTERVENTION SYSTEM (NJEIS), THE PRACTITIONER WORKS AS PART OF A TRANSDISCIPLINARY TEAM, INCLUDING THE FAMILY, SPECIAL CHILD HEALTH SERVICES (SCHS) SERVICE COORDINATOR, INTERPRETERS, AND OTHER PRACTITIONERS. THE FAMILY IS THE CENTER OF EI SERVICES. THEY CHOOSE ACTIVITIES THAT ARE MEANINGFUL FOR THEM. THE EI SERVICES ARE PROVIDED IN THE CHILD'S NATURAL ENVIRONMENTS, PRIMARILY IN THEIR HOME, BUT ALSO IN COMMUNITY LOCATIONS SUCH AS AT THEIR CHILD CARE CENTER. EI SERVICES ARE NEVER 1:1, SO EACH HOME SESSION MUST INCLUDE BOTH THE FAMILY AND CHILD, OCCURRING AS PART OF THE NATURAL ROUTINE IN THE CHILD'S DAY AND ENVIRONMENT. THE GOAL OF EARLY INTERVENTION IS TO PROVIDE A SERVICE TO THE FAMILY THAT WILL HELP THEM TO LEARN AND BE COMFORTABLE USING THE INTERVENTION STRATEGIES DEVELOPED FOR THE CHILD, THUS ENHANCING THEIR CAPACITY TO MEET THE DEVELOPMENTAL NEEDS OF THEIR CHILD.HUDSON MILESTONES HAS BEEN PROVIDING EI SERVICES SINCE 1983, WORKING WITH APPROXIMATELY 200 FAMILIES THROUGHOUT HUDSON COUNTY OVER THE COURSE OF A YEAR. IN 2004, THIS PROGRAM WENT TO A DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH DIVISION OF FAMILY HEALTH SYSTEM FFS REIMBURSEMENT SYSTEM.
