“Saidiana is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women in lubumbashi, democratic republic of congo. We operate in an economy where it's typical for someone to earn 2 per day if they even have employment. We provide small grants to collectives of women with drive and dreams to enable them to start, improve or expand microbusinesses. The women we serve have no other access to capital. We also operate two sewing trade schools in partnership with another nonprofit, congo children trust, at which we train women in sewing and basic business skills to give them a livelihood. Additionally we operate a hair dresser training program. By giving women the opportunities to earn better livings, they have hope for a better future, contribute valuable goods and services to their communities, and are able to take better care of their children.”

“The rest of our program funding was used to support staff in the congo who teach, support and consult with the small business owners/entrepreneurial cooperative. They are critical to the successful operations of our non-profit on the ground in the congo.”
