“Saidiana is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women in lubumbashi, democratic republic of congo. We operate in an economy where it's typical for someone to earn 2 per day if they even have employment. We provide small grants to collectives of women with drive and dreams to enable them to start, improve or expand microbusinesses. The women we serve have no other access to capital. We also operate two sewing trade schools in partnership with another nonprofit, congo children trust, at which we train women in sewing and basic business skills to give them a livelihood. Additionally we operate a hair dresser training program. By giving women the opportunities to earn better livings, they have hope for a better future, contribute valuable goods and services to their communities, and are able to take better care of their children.”

“Sewing vocational school - this past year we invested in the sewing vocational school for adult women in collaboration with kimbilio. These women needing to support their families with extra income gives them the skills and equipment to sew school uniforms and custom dresses while supporting the needs of their families.”

“Incubator project facilitating chick hatching from egges. Before this capital investment the women had to travel 250km to zambia to purchase young chicks. It was so profitable they were able to invest their earnings in several vegetable stands within their cooperative.”
