The Form 990 and applicable schedules are distributed to all Board members prior to filing and Board members have a chance to review and comment on the Form 990 prior to filing.”

“Each board member is required to sign a conflict of interest policy in which they agree to disclose the existence of any conflicts if they arise. Periodic reviews of the policy are required by Article VII of the policy, and may include the use of outside experts. If a conflict does arise, the board member is not allowed to participate in deliberations surrounding the conflict.”

“The compensation of the organization's CEO is determined through a review and approval process by the Board Governance Committee, using national and area-specific non-profit salary survey reports.”

“OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Determined to Rise: Formerly Ready to Rise is a one-day academy in law and leadership for middle school girls, grades 6-8, with fun and engaging workshops, inspiring speakers and great snacks By providing opportunities for education and interaction with women law students and attorneys, Ms. JD's Determined to Rise academy will allow girls to see themselves as future members of the legal profession advocating for clients, serving as members of the judiciary, running for political office, launching innovative businesses and reaching back to share their education with other girls in their communities. Due to COVID-19, Ms. JD did not host this program in 2021, but plans to continue in the future. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: NWLSO Leadership Academy: Ms. JD supports women law students through the National Women Law Students' Organization NWLSO, which represents the interests of women law students, provides a forum for women at law schools across the country to connect with one another and experienced practitioners, and links law school women's organizations nationwide. Our 2021 Leadership Academy was attended by 250+ law school students representing over 100 law schools. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Public Interest Scholarship: In an effort to promote public interest work, Ms. JD funded $25,000 of stipends for female law students across the country who dedicate their summer to public interest law in 2021. The scholarship recipients were selected from a large pool of highly competitive applicants based on their passion and conviction toward pursuing a career in public interest law. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: Pre-Law Bootcamp: Ms. JD's Pre-Law Bootcamp furthers our mission of promoting the success of aspiring women lawyers by removing obstacles to equal participation in legal education and the legal profession. Ms. JD's Pre-Law Bootcamp is an intensive virtual law school prep course providing valuable knowledge about the law school admission process, strategies for mastering each section of the Law School Admission Test LSAT, selecting and financing law school, and potential career paths available to law school graduates. In 2021, more than 650 pre-law students registered for the inaugural Ms. JD Pre-Law Bootcamp & Virtual Law School Fair in preparation for the February 2021 LSAT. This program was free and open to all pre-law students. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: Pathway to Success: K&L Gates has partnered with us once again for Pathway to Success, a 12-week program for 30 K&L Gates female lawyers. This virtual program encourages woman-to-woman networking and features women speakers to empower women associates with critical tools related to leadership development and client cultivation and engagement. 11 of 30 women made partner after participating in the Pathway to Success program last year.
