“Form 990 including all schedules and attachments, are sent to the directors and members of the board in draft form seeking review and comments, along with a transmittal e-mail calling their attention to sections of the form most likely to be of interest to members of the public and potential donors.”
“The Abundance Foundation is a small organization so relationships which could give rise to conflicts are easily identifiable. In 2011, a form requesting information on conflicts resulting from any family or business relationship was sent to and completed by members of the board and corporate officers with a request to advise other members of the board of any changes that may occur in subsequent years. This form was updated by all directors and officers in 2021. If such a relationship is reported or known, the directors follow the procedures of the Conflict of Interest Policy which directs full disclosure of all facts and circumstances, consideration by the board of the nature and seriousness of the conflict and makes a decision whether to enter into the transaction and, if so, to ensure the terms of the transaction are appropriate. The potentially interested person must recuse him or herself from any decision which could benefit him or her personally.”
“The independent members of the Board consult with legal Counsel, review compensation surveys and materials complied by Counsel, and confer with individuals working in the nonprofit field to determine a reasonable salary for the CEO based on the job description and professional credentials required.”
“The full Board consults with legal Counsel, reviews compensation surveys and materials complied by Counsel, and confers with individuals working in the nonprofit field to determine a reasonable salary for the CEO based on the job description and professional credentials required.”
“No documents other than Forms 990 and 1023 are available to the public.”

“Inspired by his mentor, Dr. Paul Farmer, Dr. Kahn has long been committed to overcoming the structural barriers that prevent robust collaboration between individuals and organizations; the very partnerships that are required to change paradigms and realize health equity. Having completed his medical training at Harvard Medical School (HMS), in 2022 Dr. Kahn continued serving on HMS's Board of Fellows and chairing its Global Health and Service Advisory Council. After Dr. Farmer's unexpected death in early 2022, Dr. Kahn worked closely with HMS to safeguard a smooth transition in the leadership of HMSs Department of Global Health and Social Medicine (DGHSM) and to ensure the lasting influence of Dr. Farmer's legacy advancing health equity. In 2022, Dr. Kahn worked with many of Dr. Farmers generous donors to support existing programs to thrive and to catalyze new ambitious collaborative programs.Involving Partners In Health (PIH) and the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine (DGHSM).In 2022, Dr. Kahn served as the host of the Global Health Affinity Group for the Network of Engaged International Donors (NEID), facilitating collaboration between philanthropists. The Abundance Foundation also organized an event featuring Dr. Agnes Binagwaho, the chancellor of PIHs University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda. This event was emblematic of the Abundance Foundations 2022 global health programmatic activities that brought together PIH leadership and HMSs DGHSM leadership to be in community with new and existing donors committed to Dr. Paul Farmers legacy. Abundance Foundations 2022 global health grant making activities for Partners In Health supported an emergency response to the civil unrest in Haiti and an evaluation of the impact of a comprehensive primary care health systems strengthening intervention on HIV and TB services in Kono District, Sierra Leone. This Sierra Leone work was led by Dr. Mohamed Bailor Barrie, who has played roles in the Abundance Project for Global Health, both as a graduate of Harvard Medical Schools Master of Medical Science of Global Health Delivery program, and as a leader of the work responding to the Ebola crisis, the epicenter of which was within 200 miles of the health system Dr. Barrie founded. After a hiatus, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) restarted in 2022. Dr. Kahn used the opportunity to reconnect and support the ongoing work and partnership of leaders from PIH and Harvard who were involved in Abundance Foundations multifaceted CGI commitments between 2010-2016. While there, Dr. Kahn supported the successful navigation of critical junctures that drew on his clinical and communication skills as well as his long-standing relationships with organizations long supported by the Abundance Foundation.2022 marked the twelfth year of Abundance partnering with the Better Evidence program (at Ariadne Labs) and Wolters Kluwer to provide free access to the digital clinical tool, UpToDate, to clinicians worldwide. In 2022, Better Evidence facilitated over 45,000 free subscriptions to clinicians serving vulnerable populations in 151 countries impacting more than three million clinical decisions. The Better Evidence for Training Program expanded to reach more than 43,000 medical students, residents, and faculty across 70 facilities in 12 countries. Dr. Kahn serves on the board of trustees of the Global Pediatric Alliance (GPA), supporting community-based healthcare, maternal and infant health in Latin America. In 2022, Dr. Kahn's partnership and Abundance Foundation grants continued to support GPA's small grants program, which enabled community-driven projects to reduce malnutrition, strengthen skills of 90 health promoters in Mayan communities in Mexico & Guatemala, and promote Indigenous women-led maternal and child health services. Since 2012, the Abundance Foundation has been a steadfast strategic partner and supporter of Out of Eden Walk (OOEW), supporting Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and”

The potentially interested person must recuse him or herself from any decision which could benefit him or her personally. |

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 9 | Inspired by his mentor, Dr. Since 2012, the Abundance Foundation has been a steadfast strategic partner and supporter of Out of Eden Walk (OOEW), supporting Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and |
