Genesis housing services contracts a real estate management group coast real estate services to oversee the management of genesis property. They provide on-site managers, and portfolio manager along with property accountants for these properties. Genesis housing services contracts with catholic charities housing services of yakima for asset management and fiscal services.

The organizations finance/audit committee are provided a draft of the 990 for review and approval prior to filing with the irs.

Genesis housing services has adopted the written conflict of interest policy of catholic charities, which states that the board of directors are committed to ethical, businesslike, and lawful conduct to ensure understanding and compliance standards and relevant federal goverment requirements, each director will be requried to read, agree to and sign the code of conduct/conflict of interest policy. Each director shall complete the annual conflict of interest statement (1) upon entry onto the board of directors (2) whenever a conflict arises or is suspected and (3) annually while a director is serving genesis housing services. All decisions of the board of directors are to be made solely on the basis of a desire to promote the best interest of the organization and those it serves.

Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Page 3, Part X

Under provisions of section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, the organization is exempt from federal income taxes, except for net income from unrelated business activities. As of december 31, 2021 and 2020, the organization had no unrelated business activities subject to federal income taxes. The financial accounting standards board issued accounting standards codification topic 740, income taxes (topic 740), on accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. The organization adopted this new guidance for the year ended december 31, 2009. Management evaluated the organization's tax positions and concluded that the organization had taken no uncertain tax positions that require adjustments to the financial statements to comply with the provisions of this guidance. The organization is no longer subject to local income tax examinations by the u.s. Federal, state, or local tax authorities for the years before 2016. Generally, the organization's tax returns remain open for three years after the returns are filed for federal income tax examination.
