Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Our mission at pennock center for counseling is to provide compassionate mental health services based on a foundation of hope and change. We offer services determined by a sliding fee scale according to income and reduce fees regularly due to financial hardship, making needed mental health care accessible to all.

Pennock center for counseling makes mental health services accessible by filling a gap in mental health services for the uninsured, underinsured and those who are unable to afford services. We do this by providing affordable individual, couple, family and group psychotherapy and support services to those in need. No one is turned away based on inability to pay. Fees for services are based on a sliding fee scale according to income and are waived or reduced due to financial hardship. Pennock center for counseling provides access to quality professional mental health services for the underserved due to socio-economic or geographic circumstances and works in collaboration with our partner organizations to make our community a healthier place.

Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 8B

The organization does not have any committees with authority to act on behalf of the board of directors.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

Prior to filing form 990, a copy of the completed form 990 and all of its support schedules were given to the board treasurer and counseling center director for review. The board treasurer presents the completed form 990 to members of the finance committee at their monthly meeting to review, the chairman of the finance committee summarizes the form 990 and answers all questions from board members at a future board meeting.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The conflict of interest policy is reviewed with the full board of directors in january each year and all board members are asked to commit to and sign the policy. The policy includes monitoring and enforcement, as it states; board action: when a conflict of interest is relevant to a matter being considered by the board, any person who believes they have a conflict of interest shall call it to the attention of the board and abstain from participating in deliberation, the final decision or voting on the matter. When there is a doubt a conflict of interest may or may not exist, the matter shall be resolved by a vote of the board, excluding the person for whom there is a question. Record of conflict: the official minutes of the board shall reflect that the conflict of interest was disclosed and the interested person(s) did not participate in the final discussion of vote.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15A

A board personnel committee, made up of independent board members, follows compensation and personnel policies and yearly evaluates the director. Evaluation forms are filled out by the director, staff and board members. The personnel committee makes recommendations to the board each year concerning the evaluation results and any changes to salary and/or benefits, staffing and personnel issues that affect the director and staff. Other officers do not receive compensation.
