Provide public education and information to communities and neighborhoods regarding the need for affordable housing and propose strategies to increase the housing supply with particular emphasis on workforce housing; promote municipal land use ordinances that will create responsible and affordable housing; develop and implement strategies through which various entities work together to develop housing and sources of funding for affordable housing.

THIS PAST YEAR, TWO NEW SIGNIFICANT HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS WERE APPROVED IN LEBANON. WHEN COMPLETED, THESE HOMES WILL MEASURABLY ADD TO THE SUPPLY OF WORKFORCE HOUSING IN THE CORE TOWNS OF THE UPPER VALLEY. THE COALITION'S ONGOING OUTREACH, EDUCATION, AND ADVOCACY WORK PLAYED A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN THE APPROVAL OF SUCH PROJECTS.$0$31,159
IN NOVEMBER 2015 THE COALITION WAS HONORED TO RECEIVE THE HANOVER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUSINESS LEADERSHIP AWARD IN RECOGNITION OF ITS LONG STANDING EFFORTS TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER TO DEVELOP SOLUTIONS TO THE REGION'S CHRONIC SHORTAGE OF QUALITY AND DIVERSE WORKFORCE HOUSING. THE COALITION INVESTED MORE TIME THIS PAST YEAR IN OUTREACH AND EDUCATION ACTIVITIES. HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE PRESENTATIONS TO COMMUNITY LEADERS AT A UNITED WAY HOLIDAY EVENT AT THE PRESIDENT'S HOUSE AT DARTMOUTH COLLEGE AND THREE PRESENTATIONS TO THE THE VITAL COMMUNITIES CORPORATE COUNCIL. IN ALL THE COALITION PARTICIATED IN 24 PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL EVENTS AND OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES, 14 MEETINGS WITH LOCAL PLANNERS AND 6 MEETINGS WITH LOCAL EMPLOYERS. THE COALITION WAS PLEASED TO TALLY 20 INSTANCES OF FAVORABLE COVERAGE IN THE LOCAL MEDIA AS A RESULT OF OUR EFFORTS THIS YEAR. IN THE SPRING OF 2016 WE UPDATED OUR LUNCH AND LEARN HOME BUYING SESSION AND HELD 4 INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS AT EMPLOYER WORKSITES. WE REACHED 22 EMPLOYEES AT THESE INITIAL SESSIONS AND THIS EFFORT CONTINUES THROUGH THE SUMMER AND INTO THE FALL. THIS YEAR WE HOSTED TWO VERY WELL-ATTENDED BUSINESS LEADERS BREAKFASTS. THESE EVENTS ARE A FOCAL POINT FOR THE COMMUNITIES' COVERSATIONS ABOUT HOUSING. DATA COLLECTED BY THE COALITION IS PRESENTED ALONG WITH CURRENT TOPICAL INFORMATION THAT PERTAINS TO HOUSING ISSUES IN BOTH NEW HAMPSHIRE AND VERMONT. THIS YEAR THE COALITION CONTINUED TO HOLD EDUCATIONAL EVENTS FOR REALTORS, WHICH HAD THE DUAL BENEFIT OF BEING A FUNDRAISER FOR THE COALITION AND ALSO EDUCATING THE REALTOR COMMUNITY ABOUT BOTH HOUSING NEEDS AND THE ROLE OF THE COALITION.$0$5,026
A NEW LAW IN NEW HAMPSHIRE REQUIRING TOWNS TO ADOPT ZONING ORDINANCES FRIENDLY TO ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS HAS PROVIDED A SIGNIFICANT OPPORTUNITY. THE COALITION PROVIDED EDUCATION AND OUTREACH TO MUNICIPALITIES AND TO THE PUBLIC WHO MAY WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE NEW ORDINANCE IN THEIR TOWN TO ADD AN "IN LAW APARTMENT" TO THEIR HOME. THE IRENE COTTAGE HIGH-PERFORMANCE HOME EFFORT HAS ALSO RECEIVED A MAJOR BOOST IN THE FORM OF A GRANT TO CONSTRUCT TWO PILOT UNITS, A TWO AND THREE BEDROOM HOME IN WILDER, VERMONT.$4,000$4,433

IN THE SPRING OF 2016 WE UPDATED OUR LUNCH AND LEARN HOME BUYING SESSION AND HELD 4 INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS AT EMPLOYER WORKSITES. WE REACHED 22 EMPLOYEES AT THESE INITIAL SESSIONS AND THIS EFFORT CONTINUES THROUGH THE SUMMER AND INTO THE FALL. THIS YEAR WE HOSTED TWO VERY WELL-ATTENDED BUSINESS LEADERS BREAKFASTS. THESE EVENTS ARE A FOCAL POINT FOR THE COMMUNITIES' COVERSATIONS ABOUT HOUSING. DATA COLLECTED BY THE COALITION IS PRESENTED ALONG WITH CURRENT TOPICAL INFORMATION THAT PERTAINS TO HOUSING ISSUES IN BOTH NEW HAMPSHIRE AND VERMONT. THIS YEAR THE COALITION CONTINUED TO HOLD EDUCATIONAL EVENTS FOR REALTORS, WHICH HAD THE DUAL BENEFIT OF BEING A FUNDRAISER FOR THE COALITION AND ALSO EDUCATING THE REALTOR COMMUNITY ABOUT BOTH HOUSING NEEDS AND THE ROLE OF THE COALITION.

THE COALITION PROVIDED EDUCATION AND OUTREACH TO MUNICIPALITIES AND TO THE PUBLIC WHO MAY WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE NEW ORDINANCE IN THEIR TOWN TO ADD AN "IN LAW APARTMENT" TO THEIR HOME. THE IRENE COTTAGE HIGH-PERFORMANCE HOME EFFORT HAS ALSO RECEIVED A MAJOR BOOST IN THE FORM OF A GRANT TO CONSTRUCT TWO PILOT UNITS, A TWO AND THREE BEDROOM HOME IN WILDER, VERMONT.
