Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Examples of the education partnership's function and reach. The northside achievement zone, the st. Paul promise neighborhood, and three greater minnesota partnerships receiving state funds due to our efforts have joined to form the education partnership coalition. Growth & justice meets with the coalition regularly to discuss state-wide partnerships and new ways to serve the local youth. This article from the strive together national network describes how growth & justice works in coalition with other groups, in this case uniting urban and rural regions and finding bipartisan support for public investment in education equity. We continue to get traction and invitations to speak from that op-ed on the cover of the star tribune op-ex section. In the fall we delivered major presentations on the education partnerships to the minnesota council on foundations and to community leaders in alexandria. We launched on our website a series of up-close profiles of four of these partnerships in greater minnesota (red wing, itasca county, st. Cloud and northfield) these stories are lively and engaging narratives about how these partnerships function, who is involved, and how the local youth are served. We have been meeting regularly with a group now called the education partnership coalition, comprising the northside achievement zone, the st. Paul promise neighborhood and three of the greater minnesota partnerships that received state funding as a result of our efforts. This article from the strive together national network describes how well and effectively g&j works in coalition with other groups, and in this case uniting urban and rural regions and finding bipartisan support for public investment in education equity. Workforce equity for a competitive economy: growth & justice, along with six partner groups, is planning "hungry for equity," a major convening of hundreds of youth of color, business leaders, and higher education and workforce experts for january 2016, funded by a 10,000 grant from the bush foundation. In "hungry for equity," growth & justice is partnering closely with the citizens league, minnesota education equity partnership, center for school change, minnesota state college student association, and everybody in. We intend this convening to result in a lasting formal coalition for workforce equity, better alignment of training, and higher education to skilled jobs actually in demand. Our next op-ed in the capitol report newspaper will outline this bold intention, along with the creation of a persistent policy agenda that reduces racial disparities in workforce and improves the alignment between actual business demand and workforce readiness.

IRS990/Desc0THE EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS MOVEMENT: GROWTH & JUSTICE CONTINUES TO GAIN TRACTION FROM AN OP-ED PUBLISHED ON THE COVER OF THE STAR TRIBUNE OP-EX SECTION AUGUST 2015, DETAILING A MOVEMENT TOWARD HOLISTIC LOCAL COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS. IN MAJOR PRESENTATIONS ON EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS, WE HAVE DEMONSTRATED THE VALUE OF PROGRAMS DEDICATED TO MORE EQUITABLE EDUCATION OUTCOMES TO COMMUNITY LEADERS IN ALEXANDRIA, AS WELL AS THE MINNESOTA COUNCIL ON FOUNDATIONS. GROWTH & JUSTICE HAS ALSO EXPANDED A WEB-PRESENCE PROMOTING EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS, INCLUDING A SERIES OF UP-CLOSE PROFILES ON FOUR OF THESE PARTNERSHIPS IN GREATER MINNESOTA (RED WING, ITASCA COUNTY, ST. CLOUD AND NORTHFIELD). THE LIVELY AND ENGAGING NARRATIVES WITHIN THE PROFILES CREATE REAL-WORLD EXAMPLES OF THE EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP'S FUNCTION AND REACH.
