“Urban Logic has a proven method of looking back into history and looking forward with finance, organization and technology insights to reimagine today's challenges as manageable through innovation and collaboration amongst communities of practice and others. To overcome diminishing municipal budgets for assuring urban quality of life, Urban Logic's research & rethinking approach has been the catalyst for numerous projects at municipal, state, national and global scales. In the 1990s, Urban Logic research pushed government agencies to promote policies of sharing geospatial data & fairer procurement rules for open data technologies. In the 2000s, Urban Logic served as emergency responder after the September 11th Attacks & brought those Command Center lessons into how sustainability & resiliency investments improve city response & recovery after tragedy. With the 2008 Financial Crisis & Great Recessions, in the 2010s, Urban Logic focused on mitigating threats to urban quality of life from the global banking system by proposing new finance models & transparency tools that make finance safer, help its customers through lifecycle events, & reward sustainability & resiliency choices. In the 2020s, Urban Logic's research has focused on the ways that smart urban technology can improve Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, in order to gather key perspectives & insights, and broaden opportunities for, traditionally marginalized people and their businesses. Current projects include: (1) Redesigning Pre-/Post-Disaster Finance & Insurance to enable vulnerable communities and their residents to better recover & rebuild, (2) Creating an economic model by which people living in informal settlements can earn a living by mitigating health and other quality of life risks, (3) Proposing a parametric insurance model by which currently uninsured coastal and other regions vulnerable to natural disaster can be rapidly rebuilt, (4) Researching how space imagery and other commodities can become widely available and standardized to permit improvements on Earth, all using financial engineering concepts, geospatial intelligence and other technology tools and precedents, and (5) Researching and reviving the histories of minority entrepreneurs, inventors and innovators to support the ingenuity of today's STEM and other students and life-long learners.”
