Activity 2

The kinsella treatment center (ktc) located at 1438 park avenue bridgeport, connecticut is a carf accredited, department of public health licensed, medication-assisted program for persons utilizing prescribed methadone or buprenorphine/suboxone, and supportive counseling in conjunction with other support and referral services. Individual, family, and/or group counseling sessions are held once per week and referrals are made to self-help groups both while in treatment and as a form of aftercare. The program had an annual average utilization rate of 126.0% for fiscal year 2012. Upon discharge from the program, 52.5% of the clients had "increased independence in living", while 85.5% had "maintained or improved their level of functioning (mgaf)". The retention rate (12 months) in methadone treatment is 12.2%. Ktc achieved an average rating of 87.1% for "satisfaction with services" with the dmhas consumer survey conducted for the 2012 fiscal year.

Activity 3

First step (inpatient detoxification program) - this is a highly structured inpatient medically monitored detoxification program, located in bridgeport, connecticut this program offers individual counseling, group therapy, case management, referral services for continuing care, medical management, and intensive services for persons living with hiv, aids and psychiatric issues. Individual therapy sessions focus on comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, and achievement of goals. Family involvement is strongly encouraged. The program had an average annual bed utilization rate of 84.2% for the 2012 fiscal year. It exhibited a 75.6% compliance rate for the "increased independence in living" outcome measure; 98.6% compliance for the "maintain/improve functioning (mgaf)" measure; 78.3% for the "treatment completed" measure; 85.9% for the "satisfaction with services" measure.
