Mission

It is the mission of the Waldo County YMCA to promote the physical, mental, social, and spiritual development of Waldo County children and families.

The waldo county ymca is a charitable community services organization that includes men, women and children of any age, ability, income, race or religion. We are dedicated to building strong kids, strong families and strong communities by putting our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into practice through programs that promote healthy lifestyles, strong values, leadership development, community interaction and international understanding. All persons are welcome at the waldo ymca regardless of their ability to pay. The waldo county ymca was founded and is led by volunteers from our community. Volunteers also serve as mentors, coaches, program leaders and instructors.

About 2,000 individuals with approximately 27,630 units of service.

Mental capabilities, to recognize the value of cooperation and to gain confidence. Our services are provided at affordable fees for the community at large with financial assistance available to those in need. These programs serve about 500 individuals with approximately 17,500 units of service.

Older adult programs - the waldo county ymca continues to host monthly free luncheons for folks 60 years and older. The luncheons provide a great opportunity for seniors to socialize. A speaker or entertainment is provided at some luncheons with topics ranging from health or social issues to just plain fun. Our "lifetime fitness" classes offer activity for lifelong fitness. It includes warm-up stretches, walking, low-level aerobics, optional chair exercises, muscle strengthening and relaxation to burn calories while improving flexibility, muscle tone, coordination, balance and heart and lung capacity. Our services are provided at affordable fees for the community at large with financial assistance available to those in need. These programs serve about 1000 individuals with over 6,200 units of service. Direct program expenses related to our older adult programs are 8,884. All other programs - the waldo county ymca hosts and organizes various social, sport and recreational programs that include men, women, and children of any age, ability, income, race or religion. We are dedicated to building strong kids, strong families and strong communities by putting our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into practice through programs that promote healthy lifestyles, strong values, leadership development, community interaction and international understanding. All persons are welcome at the waldo county ymca regardless of their ability to pay. These expenses include costs of maintaining the facility within which the above programs take place.

OUR SERVICES ARE PROVIDED AT AFFORDABLE FEES FOR THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE TO THOSE IN NEED. THESE PROGRAMS SERVE ABOUT 4,600 INDIVIDUALS WITH WELL OVER 150,000 UNITS OF SERVICES.

THE WALDO COUNTY YMCA MAINTAINS A "TEEN CENTER" TO PROVIDE A SAFE, HEALTHY AND FUN PLACE FOR TEENS TO HANG OUT AND PARTICIPATE IN MONITORED ACTIVITIES EVERY DAY AFTER SCHOOL. OUR CAMPING PROGRAM PROVIDES A LASTING EXPERIENCE OF PERSONAL ENRICHMENT. DAY CAMPS AND ADVENTURE CAMPS OFFER LEARNING ACTIVITIES THAT CHALLENGE AND PROMOTE SPIRITUAL AWARENESS, MENTAL DEVELOPMENT, PHYSICAL WELL BEING, SOCIAL GROWTH AND SELF-RESPECT. CAMPING HELPS YOUTH BECOME AWARE OF THEIR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL CAPABILITIES, TO RECOGNIZE THE VALUE OF COOPERATION AND TO GAIN CONFIDENCE. OUR SERVICES ARE PROVIDED AT AFFORDABLE FEES FOR THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE TO THOSE IN NEED.
