Other Programs include our KidVid program which works in partnership with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation to engage up to 20 high school students each year to work with film and television professionals to learn filmmaking and production techniques, and create short films that address topics of importance to them. Also included is our Teen Media Initiative (TMI) program, a new, innovative social entrepreneurship venture designed to provide training and employment opportunities for underserved teens, providing financial literacy and technical and vocational skill development. Through developing and applying computer arts and social networking skills, TMI's Teen Media Techies learn professionalism and earning money, depositing earnings in their own interest-bearing savings accounts, and contributing to a charitable Pay It Forward account. A last additional program is City at Peace-Los Angeles at Inside Out (renamed in Summer 2010 to The Possibility Project at Inside Out), which engages 40-60 high school youth in an intense, 10-month creative process, exploring and addressing the complicated forces and events they encounter on a daily basis. Participants create, write, produce, and perform an original musical that includes narratives based on their lives and visions for positive community change. During the course of the program, participants also execute team-designed Community Action Projects based on community-related themes explored during their workshops, such as anorexia, homosexuality, the foster care system, domestic abuse, gang violence, etc.

Activity 3

Neighborhood Arts Project (NAP) is an after-school and Saturday multidisciplinary arts program annually serving between 60 - 90 at-risk and underserved middle school youth and 6 high school Alumni Mentors from the troubled Oakwood District and surrounding Westside neighborhoods of Los Angeles. The program includes workshops, fieldtrips and a culminating performance at Inside Out's home base, the Venice Center for Peace with Justice and the Arts.
