FORM 990, PART XI, LINE 8, PRIOR PERIOD ADJUSTMENT:

During the audit of the fiscal year ended june 30, 2018, management noted errors in the accounting records that required net assets as of june 30, 2017 be restated for those errors. The following summarizes the adjustments made to net assets of june 30, 2017: net assets - june 30, 2017 (as reported) $ 19,325,279 adjustment to properly capitalize building renovation costs that was expensed in prior periods and to recognize the associated depreciation expense $(56,513) adjustment to contract receivable and payables from prior periods $(9,339) adjustment to properly reduce payroll deduction accounts that were overstated in prior periods. $(240,166) adjustment to properly recognize deferred rent liability to reflect straight line rental expense in prior periods. $(55,682) adjustment to properly recognize rental deposits that were originally expensed in prior periods $75,596 net assets - june 30, 2017 (as restated) $ 19,039,175 difference between june 30, 2017 net assets (as reported) and (as restated) = $(286,104)

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Options for learning (options) is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code (the code) and california income taxes under section 23701(d) of the california revenue and taxation code. Contributors, donors and grantors may obtain tax benefits. In addition, options has been determined by the internal revenue service not to be a "private foundation" within the meaning of section 509(a) of the code. Options has adopted financial accounting standards board accounting standards codification (asc) section 740-10, which clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. Asc section 740-10 prescribes a recognition threshold and measurement attribute for the financial statement recognition and measurement of a tax position taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. Asc section 740-10 requires that an organization recognize in the financial statements the impact of the tax position if that position will more likely than not be sustained on audit, based on the technical merits of the position. As of and for the year ended june 30, 2018, options had no material unrecognized tax benefits, tax penalties or interest. Options for learning is subject to potential income tax audits on open tax years by any taxing jurisdiction in which it operates. The statute of limitation for federal and california purposes is generally three and four years, respectively.
