Activity 2

Community resource center's social services served more than 10,000 individuals in 2011. Through the recovery act's homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing program (hprp), crc leads a collaboration of four cities and three other nonprofit agencies to provide rental assistance and services for north county san diego households that are homeless or at risk of homelessness. In the hprp year ending october 2011, 99% of participating households were stably housed. Crc also offers a rotating winter shelter program and motel vouchers for episodically homeless clients, as well as comprehensive food programs, employment preparation and financial literacy services, and holiday baskets. Upon completion of a six-month cycle of case management, 85% of clients increased their financial and housing stability. Crc provided 51 individuals with a comprehensive financial literacy workshop, and made more than 11,000 distributions of food to low-income households in the community. In addition, 672 households accessed emergency assistance food assistance, and 274 households participated in the client center program, which offers a six-month cycle of case management, food distributions, and financial education. The annual holiday baskets program- the largest distribution of its kind in san diego county - served a record 1,482 households in 2011. Participants received poultry and staple foods, outerwear, infant and toddler products, and other essentials, and were also linked to other supportive services throughout the region.

Activity 3

Community resource center's thrift stores, in addition to generating net income for the agency's activities, is a source of clothing, furniture and household goods for both domestic violence and social service clients; provides employment opportunities for low-income individuals; and is a source of low-cost goods for local families.
