Activity 2

Community resource center's social services served more than 9,000 individuals in 2010. As one of only two agencies in san diego county to receive state funding through the recovery act's homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing program (hprp), crc leads a collaboration of four cities and three other non-profit agencies to provide rental assistance and services for north county san diego households who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. In the hprp year ending in october 2010, 99% of participating households were stably housed. Crc also offer episodically homeless households temporary shelter through a rotating winter shelter and motel vouchers. Of households participating in the 2010 motel voucher programs and crc-case managed winter shelter program, 89% became stably housed, and 26% secured stable employment. The employment preparation center (including voicemail use, computer access for job search and resume-writing activities, and other employment-focused supports) was utilized 1, 221 times in 2010. Crc provided more than 12,000 distributions of food through the emergency pantry, u.s.d.a. Commodities program and the feeding america fresh rescue distribution of nutritious meat, dairy, and produce. Crc pre-screened more than 150 households for food stamp enrollment. Separately, the annual holiday baskets program-the largest holiday distribution of its kind in san diego county-served a record 6,411 individuals in 2010. Participating households received more than 46 tons of poultry and staple foods, as well as household essentials, outerwear, infant/toddler items, and other products.

Activity 3

Community resource center's thrift stores, in addition to generating net income for the agency's activities, is a source of clothing, furniture and household goods for both domestic violence and social service clients; provides employment opportunities for low-income individuals; and is a source of low-cost goods for local families.
