“Pursuant to the Lowell Alumni Associations bylaws, there is an annual meeting open to the organizations entire membership (comprising all persons who have ever attended Lowell High School) at which ten members of the board of directors are to be elected to full three-year terms. (the board is authorized to include a total of 32 directors, 30 of which are elected by the membership to staggered three-year terms plus the immediate past president plus a representative of our Southern California Alumni Club, which is not separately organized/incorporated.”

“Other than the election of directors, the only other action that requires a vote of the membership, pursuant to the bylaws, is an amendment to the bylaws regarding the authorized number of directors. The Board of Directors is explicitly authorized by the bylaws to carry out all other operations of the organization.”

“OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Grants Program (Expenses $70,042) We are proud to continue our long-standing grants program where, twice each year, we solicit requests from Lowell faculty, staff and coaches. Our Grant Committee then evaluates the requests and does its best to fund those projects that will provide the greatest possible benefit to todays Lowell students. Major grants funded during fiscal year 2015-16 include support for the Lowell Robotics team ($10,597) and Speech/Debate team ($9,500); travel costs for a national student journalism convention ($9,157); support for the Lowell Advanced Placement exam program ($9,263); purchase of computers for the architecture classroom ($5,359); participation in the California Poets in the Schools program ($5,000); equipment for the Lowell library ($3,850); and support for the Lowell Baseball team ($2,410) and Lowell JROTC ($2,171). OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Alumni Programs/Services (Expenses $43,920) The Lowell Alumni Association provides a free semi-annual alumni newsletter than is mailed to more than 35,000 alumni, former faculty and other friends of Lowell High School ($38,613). We also support regular class reunions ($3,397) and alumni participation in the schools annual commencement exercises ($1,909). OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Educational Technology ($40,000) As part of a long-standing partnership with the Lowell High School Technology Committee (comprised of faculty, students, staff, parents and alumni), the Lowell Alumni Association provided almost $40,000 in fiscal year 2015-16 for the purchase of technology equipment and licenses deployed throughout the campus to serve all of todays Lowell students.”
