IRS990/Description0FOR FY2011, THERE WERE SEVEN SESSIONS OF THE FOOD SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAM AND 17 SESSIONS OF THE BAKERY PRODUCTION TRAINING PROGRAM. THE 315-HOUR TRAINING CURRICULUM INTEGRATED SKILLS INSTRUCTION WITH ON-THE-JOB PRODUCTION EXPERIENCE IN OUR SOCIAL ENTERPRISES, WHICH INCLUDE OUR CAFE, CATERING SERVICE AND WHOLESALE BAKERY. STARTING IN FY2011, WE IMPLEMENTED A STAGGERED ADMISSION STRUCTURE THAT ACCOMMODATED THREE TIMES AS MANY ENTRY POINTS FOR APPLICANTS AND ENHANCED PROGRAM EFFICIENCIES. THIS WAS ALSO INTENDED TO REDUCE WAITLISTS AND ENSURE CONTINUITY IN TRAINEE PRODUCTION SKILLS IN THE OPERATION OF THE BREAD PROJECTS SOCIAL ENTERPRISES.TO COMPLEMENT THE SKILLS TRAINING, PROGRAM STAFF PROVIDED 45 HOURS OF JOB READINESS INSTRUCTION PER SESSION AND INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORTS TO ASSIST TRAINEES WITH THE TRANSITION INTO THE WORKPLACE. ADDITIONALLY, WE OFFERED 12 MONTHS OF FOLLOW-UP SERVICES AND SUPPORTS TO HELP 102 FY2010 GRADUATES FIND AND KEEP JOBS IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY. (FY2010 FOLLOW-UP IS NEAR COMPLETION.) FOLLOW-UP FOR FY2011 GRADUATES IS ONGOING.WE CONTINUED PILOTING THE ADVANCED TRAINING PROGRAM WHICH IS INTEGRATED IN THE OPERATIONS OF OUR SOCIAL ENTERPRISES. ADVANCED TRAINEES WERE ASSIGNED PRODUCTION AND INSTRUCTOR ASSISTANT ROLES TO HELP BUILD TECHNICAL AS WELL AS LEADERSHIP SKILLS. FURTHERMORE, WE INTRODUCED A NIGHT SHIFT AT THE WHOLESALE BAKERY GEARED SPECIFICALLY FOR ADVANCED TRAINEES TO ALLEVIATE PRODUCTION RESPONSIBILITIES FROM THE BASIC TRAINING PROGRAM AND ADVANCED TRAINEES TO SUPPORT CATERING SERVICES AND CAFE PRODUCTION. FOR FY2011, WE ASSISTED 181 ECONOMICALLY MARGINALIZED INDIVIDUALS WITH JOB TRAINING AND ASSISTANCE, AND 126 SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THEIR TRAINING. OF THE GRADUATES OF FY2010 FOR WHOM FOLLOW-UP IS ALMOST COMPLETE, 65 PERCENT OBTAINED EMPLOYMENT AND 79 PERCENT RETAINED THEIR JOBS WITH 29 PERCENT EARNING THE EQUIVALENT OF THE CITY OF OAKLAND'S LIVING WAGE ORDINANCE EFFECTIVE JULY 2009. SINCE FOLLOW-UP CONTINUES FOR 12 MONTHS POST GRADUATION, COMPLETE EMPLOYMENT DATA FOR THE FY2011 TRAINEES WILL BE AVAILABLE IN EARLY FY2013. IN ADDITION, WE CREATED 12 ADVANCED TRAINING POSITIONS IN FY2011 WITH A GRADUATION RATE OF 100 PERCENT AND EIGHT CURRENTLY EMPLOYED. EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES FOR THIS PROGRAM WILL BE REPORTED IN FULL DETAIL ONCE DATA IS AVAILABLE.
