Mission and Program Overview

Mission

This organization's primary purpose was to further the common interest of its members and of the ocean liner carrier industry in fostering and serving foreign commerce with the approval of the Federal Maritime Commission. TSA performed record keeping and kept minutes on behalf of its members, who are engaged principally in the transportation of cargo.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Over the course of the year, tsa representatives held several meetings with local government officials in malaysia, and india, to discuss continued developments with regard to the implementation by these governments, of new regulations that would affect the functioning of carrier entities such as tsa; the agreement representatives answered questions and provided information regarding the functioning of the agreement in other countries, as well as the overall regulatory framework under which the agreement operates in the united states, and suggested to the government entities, how these could be adopted to their local requirements.
Activity 3
Representatives of the tsa , together with the secretariat and counsel, met with the executives and staff of the federal maritime commission, in april and november. The fmc is the us government agency that is responsible for the oversight of the agreement. During these meetings, there were detailed reports and briefings given to the fmc , by the lines, as to agreement activities and overall trade conditions, thereby continuing to foster a positive working relationship with government regulators and providing them with better information and a better understanding of the working of the agreement and the challenges facing the liner industry.
