“Golden gate opera's mission is to enrich the community's experience by providing access to a myriad of fine arts found in live, professional opera. Ggo inspires people of all ages, cultural, and economic backgrounds to appreciate the arts. Life and learning through high quality performances and educational programs. We help the artform of opera live on for the future, by developing emerging artists in their careers--singers, designers, and directors--and by producing new works as part of our programming.”

“Ggo achievements in 2017: golden gate opera continued dedicated to sharing the joys of opera with people of all ages, economic and cultural backgrounds, in performances and educational programs. We focused on stopping bullying in schools producing an anti-bullying opera for young people. Ggo's west coast premiere of gian carlo menotti's one-act opera for young people "the boy who grew too fast" was at marin showcase theater, marin center in april 2017. We completed adaptation of menotti's 1982 libretto so it works for children in today's world, by collaborating with bullying prevention committee of novato unified school district. The adapted libretto was approved by marin county school districts, and also by menotti's publisher, g. Schirmer, inc. & associates of new york for use with schools. Ggo's teachers' guide created for "the boy who grew too fast" included the upstander pledge in spanish and in english. A sneak preview party venue was donated by hospice of marin. Professional singers in the cast joined in collaboration with children singers from lin pan's colorful universe children's performing troupe, and various schools in marin county. This was a first time collaboration with musica marin chamber orchestra. Conductor & music director was dr. Brian asher alhadeff. Director was edna garabedian. Sets designer was richard adamson and costume designer was morgenne tree newsom. Rehearsal space was donated by miller avenue church, mill valley and 2 family's donated home stay for out of town artists. Two special events in 2017 brought together donors, fans and volunteers: 1) september "arias on the water" at servino ristorante in tiburon and 2) december "holiday musical potpourri" at miller avenue church in mill valley. We had our first online auction, and achieved many new in-kind business sponsors from marin county.”
