“OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: The Resilience Project emerged in 2016 as a community based performance process in which directors interviewed Veterans and their families and used their individual responses and stories about resilience to develop text for a staged work that collides words and movement, gesture and song into a visceral experience of the participants profoundly moving stories. Today, The Resilience Project doesn't only take shape as performance but exists as workshops and classes. In these sessions, JGPG teaching artists, Veterans and/or Veterans care providers join together as a community to practice shared storytelling and mindful movement. Serves 50-60 people per session 20-30 sessions held per year April 2023: Catalyst Event, JGPG partnered with Access Institute- 5075 people attended and participated in workshops OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Spring Workshop- A weekend workshop with Joe Goode designed to revitalize and nourish your creativity. Have you asked yourself lately What matters to me now, in this stage of my life? Part of the Starting Now methodology is to embrace the materials that may be drawn from your life at any given moment, to realize that making something with those materials is a way of waking up to your life and its possibilities. You will leave this workshop with tools, practices and inspiration to inhabit your life, your work and your relationships in a deeper and more deliberate way. No dance or performance background necessary.15-20 people attended our Starting Now workshop on April 28 and 29 (9 hours total) OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: D.R.A.G. (Divination, Rainbows And Glitter) Workshops was founded by JGPG's teaching artist, Wailana Simcock/Magdelena Moore. Simcock/Moore hosted and co-led sessions with local Queer artists to create a space to uplift, connect and share the stories of Queer voices from the indigenous/POC community. Served 20-40 people per workshop 2 sessions were held in this FY OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: Joe Goode AnnexThe Joe Goode Annex is the home of the JGPG Performance Group artistic and programming activities as well as providing the Bay Area community with an affordable studio rental program for classes and performances serving annually over 8,000 audience members, 90 renting artists, with hundreds more artists involved as performers, designers, and teachers. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: As We Go-As We Go is a site-responsive, immersive dance theater work that contemplates the body in all its idiosynchronicity and miraculous unpredictability as we are collectively confronted with our mortality once again in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Developed in partnership with medical professionals in the field of chronic-illness and end-of-life care and community members identifying as elders and/or with chronic health challenges. Premiering in San Francisco, CA, As We Go invites participants to journey through a dynamic, multi sensory,interactive and queered environment that transforms from intimate audience-performer exchanges to abundant community ritual. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 9: GUSH Festival (2022) premiered new works by JGPG, bront velez and Gizeh Muiz-Vengel & Ernesto Peart Falcn at the Joe Goode Annex. This years GUSH artists looked at intergenerational queer lineage (JGPG), movement as an offering/ofrenda to the future us while caring for nostalgia (Muiz-Vengel & Falcn) and black liminality and levity (velez). OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 10: Spring Fundraiser-This is both a fundraising event, as well as a performance showcasing our ongoing work.”
