Activity 2

Education: lines ballet offers training and scholarships for aspiring and pre-professional dancers, as well as in an academic setting through collaboration with the dominican university of california bfa program. Education program faculty consist of company dancers, company alumni, local and renowned guests. Students perform work staged by local and guest choreographers, lines ballet reperatoire, and their own choreography. The summer program for students age 11-24 served 253 students; lines 2-year training program for ages 17-24 served 33 students; lines bfa program had 52 students in attendance. The discovery outreach project provided accessible dance education programs to 300 students throughout the us.

Activity 3

Dance center: since 1989, alonzo king lines dance center has made its vibrant arts facility available to the public. Offering an extensive selection of adult classes, akldc serves over 3,800 dancers annually from absolute beginner to professional. Classes range from classical ballet, horton-based modern, to bollywood, musical theater, choreography, jazz and tap dance. Open houses are held biannually to introduce over 500 new dancers and non-dancers to the dance center. The dance center also leads the lines ballet's community involvement by bringing dance to the community through free performances and all-ages classes held in public outdoor venues. "connecting with our neighbors" community outreach program served an additional 500 teens and pre-teens from san francisco's central market district.
