IRS990/Desc0Provided and implemented the fourth year update to the five year strategic plan. The plan reinforces the Associations focus on the founding pillars of professional education, advocacy and collaboration. Entered into the third year partnership with Council of Development Finance Agencies (CDFA) to provide financial training in Arizona to AAED members at a reduced rate & to allow participation in development of course offerings. Assisted in the planning and promotion of Financing Roundtable and CDFA Annual Conference that went so well they returned to Arizona in October 13, 2016 at the Phoenix Convention Center. AAEDs Economic Development Academy of Arizona had 6 offerings this year with two of the classes at the Fall Forum with a total of 124 attendees with 115 requesting credits. The Academy layered credits over attendees at CDFA Roundtable in October (18 given credit), the Government and Finance Officers of Arizonas training in January (19 given credit) and the March 22nd Southern AZ Symposium (14 given credit). There were two standalone courses in the spring, one on March 10th with 24 attendees and May 17th with 37. The Academy this fiscal year raised the number of AZED Pros to twenty-nine. AAED conducted the 5th year of the AZ Basic Economic Development Course (January 23-27, 2017) with 51 graduating. A Tribal E.D. section was weaved into the 2017 course. Continued a partnership with IEDC to bring CEcD classes to Arizona which includes revenue sharing with AAED. Held the IEDC Marketing/Attraction Course on November 3-4, 2016 with 98 in attendance and Credit Analysis February 8-10 with 59 in attendance. Continued partnership with Colorado and New Mexico to bring more courses to the region (3 in 2017). Achieved certification from IEDC for AAEDs annual conference, Fall Forum and all Academy courses which designates CEcD recertification points for our members attendance. Advocacy efforts and accomplishments included: Creating AAEDs legislative agenda to state elected officials;Directing the Associations lobbying efforts at the capitol;Changing Legislative Luncheon to a Policy Impact Dinner (145 attendees with 33 Legislators) Held Spring Conference in Lake Havasu City for April 26-28, 2017 with 206 attendees. Created and planned the second Fall Forum September 7-9, 2016 at the Little America Hotel; 124 attendees, 11 Golden Prospector Awards presented with 9 Awards of Merit. Partnered with Arizona Rural Development Council to moderate two sessions at the Rural Policy Forum in Pinetop/Lakeside, August 4, 2016.Continued a partnership with AZ/RE Magazine to create a separate AAED insert November/December 2016 and to produce 6 legislative editorials this year.Planned and conducted 12 monthly luncheons in Phoenix with one having a morning symposium. Averaged about 120 a luncheon. The Workforce Symposium in April attracted 134 attendees.Planned and conducted 6 luncheons in Southern Arizona; averaged 64 a luncheon and one symposium which had 77 attendees.Planned and conducted two sold out Northern Arizona Economic Development Regional Symposiums on October 26th with 75 attendees and held a second Symposium with a sports theme on February 23rd with 78 attendees. Planned and conducted a Southeastern AZ Roundtable on July 28 in Willcox, AZ with the Rural Committee (67 attendees) and South Central AZ Roundtable in Coolidge on March 29 (91 attendees). Distributed 11 electronic newsletters called The Voice.Held the 2nd annual Cornhole fundraiser on February 17, 2017 with an attendance of 89.
