Mission and Program Overview

Mission

To benefit and support mission housing development corporation, a california nonprofit public benefit corporation, and its purposes in accordance with section 509(a)(3) of the internal revenue code by (i)providing decent, safe and sanitary housing and related facilities and services, and expand economic opportunities for low-income persons; (ii) serving as a general partner (either directly or as the sole member of a limited liability company) in limited partnerships and serving as the sole or managing member in limited liability companies which will own and operate housing for low-income persons and households described in (i) above; (iii) borrowing money and issuing evidence of indebtedness in furtherance of any or all of the objects of its businees, and to secure the same by mortgage, pledge or other lien on the corporation's property; and (iv) lending money, and doing any and all other lawful things in furtherance of the charitable purposes of mhdc.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

Mission housing development corporation (mhdc) and other not-for-profit corporations are exempt from federal income taxation under internal revenue code section 501(c)(3) and from california franchise taxation under the revenue and taxation code section 23701(d). The income or loss from the partnerships is reported by the partners on their income tax returns. The consolidated financial statements also include certain corporations that are not tax-exempt. No income tax provision has been included in the consolidated financial statements for the single member limited liability companies which are generally considered disregarded entities. The income or loss of the llcs is included in the tax returns of their respective sole members. Only the annual california limited liability company minimum tax and the annual fee appear as expense in the consolidated financial statements.mhdc and affiliates believe that they have appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and as such, do not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements. The federal and state income tax and information returns for the years ending december 31, 2020, 2019, 2018, and 2017 are subject to examination by the regulatory agencies, generally for three years and four years after they were filed for federal and state, respectively.

DURING THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2022, MHDC CONTRIBUTED $399,339 TO THE SUPPORTING ORGANIZATION WHICH THEY USED TO PASS THROUGH TO THE LIMITED PARTNERSHIPS THEY ARE INVESTED IN. THIS RESULTED IN ZERO CURRENT YEAR MONETARY SUPPORT PROVIDED BY THE SUPPORTING ORGANIZATION TO THE SUPPORTED ORGANIZATION.SINCE CAPITAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE LIMITED PARTNERSHIPS ARE NOT NECESSARYILY REQUIRED ON AN ANNUAL BASIS, THERE SHOULD BE MONETARY SUPPORT PROVIDED TO THE SUPPORTING ORGANIZATION IN FUTURE YEARS.
