Mission and Program Overview

Mission

To benefit and support mission housing development corporation, a california nonprofit public benefit corporation, and its purposes in accordance with section 509(a)(3) of the internal revenue code by (i)providing decent, safe and sanitary housing and related facilities and services, and expand economic opportunities for low-income persons; (ii) serving as a general partner (either directly or as the sole member of a limited liability company) in limited partnerships and serving as the sole or managing member in limited liability companies which will own and operate housing for low-income persons and households described in (i) above; (iii) borrowing money and issuing evidence of indebtedness in furtherance of any or all of the objects of its businees, and to secure the same by mortgage, pledge or other lien on the corporation's property; and (iv) lending money, and doing any and all other lawful things in furtherance of the charitable purposes of mhdc.

Form 990, Part III, Line 3: Ceased Conducting or Significant Changes To Services

On august 27, 2014, the organization sold the land, buildings and improvements constituting the low income housing project it was operating to mhdc esperanza-colosimo, l.p. The sale of the project to the limited partnership was made on an installment sale basis for the purpose of obtaining funds from an investor limited partner to fund rehabilitation of the property. After rehabilitation of the property, it will continue to be operated as a low income housing project.

The corporation has been granted tax-exempt status by the internal revenue service under code section 501(c)(3) and by the california franchise tax board under code section 23701(d). The corporation believes that it does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements. The federal and state tax returns for the years ended june 30, 2014, 2013, 2012, and 2011 are subject to examination by regulatory agencies, generally for three years and four years after they were filed for the federal and state returns, respectively.
