“Membership in the Society shall be by invitation only. Such invitation shall be made to individuals in the real estate profession who are qualified in terms of performance, education, and character, in accordance with requirements established by the Board, administered by the Membership Committee, and detailed in the Policies and Procedures Manual. There shall be four (4) classes of Membership as follows:Counselor: Counselors shall be individuals who hold and maintain an active real estate license and who, as principals, partners, corporate officers or trustees, are engaged actively in the real estate profession, including buying, selling, exchanging, renting, leasing, managing, appraising for others for compensation, financing, building, developing or subdividing real estate, and who maintain or are associated with an established real estate office as defined by their respective state laws.Lifetime Counselors: The Lifetime Counselor designation recognizes an individual who has established outstanding service through a lifetime of consistent contributions to the success and advancement of the Society of Exchange Counselors. All existing Lifetime Counselors as of January 1, 2021, will pay no annual dues and pay no fees for in person or virtual conferences. There shall be no Lifetime Counselor status awarded after January 1, 2021.Retired Counselors: Current and past Members may apply to the Board for Retired Counselor status, and it shall be granted at the discretion of the Board, pursuant to the requirements in the Policies and Procedures Manual.Inactive Counselors: Current Members may apply to the Board for Inactive Status, and it shall be granted at the discretion of the Board, pursuant to the requirements in the Policies and Procedures Manual.In addition, there shall be a classification Candidate, a potential future Member. Candidates: Candidates shall be individuals who have been duly elected to Candidacy as prescribed in the Policies and Procedures Manual of the Society. A person accepted as a Candidate is not guaranteed that he will be accepted as a Counselor Member in the future.”

Such invitation shall be made to individuals in the real estate profession who are qualified in terms of performance, education, and character, in accordance with requirements established by the Board, administered by the Membership Committee, and detailed in the Policies and Procedures Manual. There shall be four (4) classes of Membership as follows:Counselor: Counselors shall be individuals who hold and maintain an active real estate license and who, as principals, partners, corporate officers or trustees, are engaged actively in the real estate profession, including buying, selling, exchanging, renting, leasing, managing, appraising for others for compensation, financing, building, developing or subdividing real estate, and who maintain or are associated with an established real estate office as defined by their respective state laws.Lifetime Counselors: The Lifetime Counselor designation recognizes an individual who has established outstanding service through a lifetime of consistent contributions to the success and advancement of the Society of Exchange Counselors. All existing Lifetime Counselors as of January 1, 2021, will pay no annual dues and pay no fees for in person or virtual conferences. There shall be no Lifetime Counselor status awarded after January 1, 2021.Retired Counselors: Current and past Members may apply to the Board for Retired Counselor status, and it shall be granted at the discretion of the Board, pursuant to the requirements in the Policies and Procedures Manual.Inactive Counselors: Current Members may apply to the Board for Inactive Status, and it shall be granted at the discretion of the Board, pursuant to the requirements in the Policies and Procedures Manual.In addition, there shall be a classification Candidate, a potential future Member. Candidates: Candidates shall be individuals who have been duly elected to Candidacy as prescribed in the Policies and Procedures Manual of the Society. A person accepted as a Candidate is not guaranteed that he will be accepted as a Counselor Member in the future. |
