Activity 2

Racial justice: we are laying a critical foundation for ongoing, long term alliance building, education, and leadership development between and within racial justice and lgbt equality movements in oregon. We work to advance racial justice priorities, build a strong team of lgbt people of color leaders engaged in public education programs, and strengthen the ability of allied people of color organizations to play a leadership role in lgbt equality and gender justice work. In 2012 the racial justice program completed 108 shifts talking about marriage to people of color in southwest washington in spanish, vietnamese, korean, and english; trained 107 volunteers and community members on the intersections of racial justice, immigrant rights and lgbt equality; showed our two spirit video to 266 tribal leaders at the afffiliated tribes of northwest indians; got signatures of 82 straight leaders of color and organizations to a statement of support for lgbt families of color in 5 local ethnic media outlets; had 35,271 you tube views of our families video series; 394 people viewed our families video at causa's immigrant action day in salem.

Activity 3

Transgender justice: basic rights education fund is committed to advancing equality for transgender oregonians. We recognize that within the lgbt rights movement, transgender people have been historically excluded-and we know that transgender members of our community face unique barriers to accessing accurate documentation, appropriate health care, housing and employment. That's why we support trans-inclusive policies, and why we have committed to lead campaigns to increase the safety and wellbeing of transgender oregonians. During 2012 the trans justice program organized a trans justice summit attended by 150 people; trained 57 community members on how to share their stories with decision-makers; created a ground breaking video highlighting trans oregonians experiences of health care discrimination; reached over 200 policymakers with personal stories and education about health care discrimination; educated 50 business and human resource leaders at annual business leaders luncheon; distributed 700 copies of the "benefits of equality" toolkit for securing trans-inclusive health care in workplaces; 180 community members attended our trans justice summer event series; 53,000 oregonians gained access to inclusive coverage during 2012.
