Activity 2

The youth services department includes a range of programs to support homeless youth. The day program provided 887 homeless people between the ages of 14-25 with meals, showers, hygiene supplies, recreation and skill-building activities, and assistance obtaining id. Queerzone provided 104 youth with creative supportive services and 190 groups to help build a supportive environment within the homeless youth continuum for homeless youth that identify as lesbian, gay, bi, trans or questioning (lgbtq). Case managers work with 340 youth more intensively on physical and mental health, education, employment, and housing resource and support needs. Outside in's offers both transition and permanent supported housing programs. The transitional housing program provides 28 units of housing on the top two floors of the outside in building as well 8 community apartments. Forty-six youth resided in the transitional housing program, with 95% positive outcomes from youth exiting the program. Thirty-five youth resided in permanent supported housing with wrap-around supports to maintain housing. The employment resource center worked with 298 youth on all levels of work preparedness, from assisting 22 obtain their ged to supporting 30 youth in college and helping 81 youth enter employment.

Activity 3

The virginia woof dog day care is a training program for homeless youth. Youth are taught the basics of employment while working with dogs and at the front desk of the dog day care. During the year 24 youth were involved in the ten-week training course and two youth were hired as regular employees.
