Part X : FIN48 Footnote

“The pear bureau is exempt from federal and state income taxes under section 501(c)(5) of the internal revenue service code and comparable state law, therefore no provision for income taxes has been made in the accompanying financial statements. The pear bureau believes that no activities were conducted that will result in taxation for unrelated business income.under financial accounting standards board (fasb) accounting standards codification (asc) topic 740, income taxes, an organization must evaluate its tax positions and provide for a liability for any positions that would not be considered "more likely than not" to be upheld under a tax authority examination. Management has evaluated its tax positions and has concluded that a provision for a tax liability is not necessary at june 30, 2017.the organization's tax returns are subject to possible examination by taxing authorities. For federal income tax purposes, the organization's tax years 2013 through 2015 remain open for possible examination by the internal revenue service.”
